[12:00 PM EST - No subject.]

Campus day today. Caveat Emptor. Found out that Tecplot was able to use extended fonts, and I was playing around with it for a while before I realized that the same values could be used elsewhere (like here)! So I've been playing around with the extended font.. µ, «, », °, §. I might get around to using some of these symbols in the future.. (Laz already uses a couple of them.)

Theochem will be down for a few hours tonight as we move our files off the IST computers and back onto Theochem. Hopefully nothing bad will happen, but I'm going to hedge my bets and bring some of the stuff I have here back home.. Also, I won't be surprised if Theochem will be down tomorrow..

Oh yeah, so if you wanted to check this page or any other page on Theochem tonight, do it before six or try again tomorrow morning. Everything should be back up and running by then.

Oh hey, today is indeed Pi day. I wandered into the math building and checked to see if my sources were correct and noticed that, yes indeed, they were actually giving out pie! (Giving, not selling.) This all got funded by Nortel it seems. Anyway, this being campus day as well, makes it quite coincidental, since I bumped into someone who told me that there was free food being given out in Biology.. cookies and such. Man, I probably shouldn't have gone out for food, I could've filled up on pie! (I got myself a slice of pecan pie and ice cream.. *drool*)

Oh, after I went to the head of the line to see what sort of pies they had available, I turned around to see that JCYH was in line! The kid apparently heard about this thing last minute and joined the line. So I talked to her for a bit wondering if we'll be getting a visit at the next CTRL-A show.. I think the answer was "maybe".

After making it back to the lab and spreading the word (nobody seemed interested), JSI mentioned that Pi day is better than mol day since people generally like pie more than moles. Mol day? Uh huh, October 23 (from 6:02 in the morning to 6:02 at night). Oh man, this is sad..

Ha! I found this rather amusing. I was asked to help move some water (don't ask) and she used the following phrase:

"Can I borrow your muscles for a sec?"

Which is nearly identical to the one used on me last year. I nearly laughed outloud when I heard that, what a coincidence (and the fact that I still have no muscles, despite Renee's attempts to pump me up.).

I came across this nifty hack from ArsTechnica:

Now here's a cool NT hack that I hadn't seen. If you're a big command line fiend, and you want to turn on TAB completion under NT4 or Win2K, open up the registry to this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER:Software:Microsoft:CommandProcessor:CompletionChar,
and set its DWORD value to a decimal "9." This'll let you enter in the first few characters of a directory name and hit TAB to complete the rest. Rockin'!

Ahh, after being pampered with TAB completion on Unix, I think this is a pretty useful development..

Aw man! It's raining. Doesn't seem like it'll be letting up for a while either. Well, I'll take that back. Seems as if the sun is poking through a break in the clouds.. What a sight. Too bad I don't have my camera..

As Theochem will be going down soon, I'll do a bit of wrapping up here. First of all, KGL has a long entry about fingers, old age, and guys. Jax has two entries up. One about fish and pictures, while the other (very recent) entry is about people of old, and marks of new. Or lack of marks as the case may be..

That's it. Another uneventful day. I'm gonna go and see if I can scan in some pictures..
