[12:00 PM EST - No subject.]

Despite going to bed at a fairly respectable time (respectable being before two in the morning - I've been getting to bed pretty late recently, too much porno on the tube.. I mean work. Yeah, too much work..).. er.. where was I? Yeah, anyway, I got up late, and had no chance at making the recreational skating time today. That was all right, since I don't think I was in any shape to go skating today, or perhaps for the next week or so. I'll explain later.

Last night, while I was watching a Biography on Julius Caesar, the announcer mentioned that the month of his birth which was named after him (July) was originally "Quintus". That got me thinking, I've always thought that the two extra months added to the Julian Calendar were July and August (after Julius and Augustus Caesar). At least that's what I've heard of been told. But now, it seems like July, or Quintus, was actually part of the original Roman Calendar, and as the name implies, was the fifth month of the year. I don't know much about ancient history, and my casual perusal on the net didn't answer my question, but were July and August the months that were added into the Julian Calendar, or was it two of the other months (obviously not September, October, November, nor December). I have no idea.

This morning when I woke up, my knees still felt bruised from last week's fun, so I decided to read a chapter or two from The Hobbit that Dusty gave to me two weeks ago. I had already read nearly half of the book by this time and I enjoyed the story quite a bit. It's an easy read for those of you who haven't read it yet and I highly recommend it. Anyhoo, I finished that one chapter and figured I might as well read the next (short) chapter, then another (long) one, and another, and.. two hours later, I had finished the book. It's a nice story and I'm itching to read the Lord of the Rings now..

Oh, BTW, when I was checking out my knees for bruises and such, I only noticed the one small bruise on the inside of my left knee, but didn't see anything anywhere else. Well, when I got into the shower today and looked down, I saw that both of my knees were completely covered by these huge purple bruises. I guess I never saw them before becuase the light in the bathroom was very bright, but it was a little shocking to see it for the first time. All I did was say "Holy crap!". Actually, that's about all I did say for the next ten minutes. *looks down* Holy crap!

So skating was out, and broomball will be difficult even with the knee pads. I'll probably have to take it really easy during the game since both of my knees are very sensitive to stress and pressure right now. I don't know if I'll be able to skate on Wednesday or not, but I hope to have healed enough by then.

Err.. will this millennium maddness never end? It seems like May 5th is the new date for doomsday when all of the ancient heavenly bodies (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, the Sun, and the Moon) will all line up on one side of the Earth. No comment. You can read all about it if you want but I think they're running out of dates in this millennium for the world to end. Found this at the ShackNews.

Updatewise there wasn't much to see since KGL has a tiny update while.. oops, I take that back. It seems like Tiffi's entry that I couldn't see yesterday works now! Yay! For Tiffi's information, the chances that they might get snowed in in Canada is pretty slim, especially for the parts of Canada that they were planning to see, since in the past few years, there have only been something like half a dozen bad storms, and all of them taking place in January or February.

Also, Jax has a double header including a very long recount of last night's grad ball. Seems like a good time had by all. I personally haven't really had that much luck with formal (or semi-formal) events. I dunno, my high school formal wasn't particularly interesting (although someone else I know had a much more interesting time..), the village semi-formal was boring, commencement wasn't much to sneeze at, I only noticed the food at banquets and receptions, the list goes on.. Hey, at least my suit is pretty clean!

Hmm, started marking some of the CHEM 129 assignments, but one of the solutions may be incorrect. This makes marking difficult. I'm gonna check with the powers that be.. (ha ha, no pun intended - okay, maybe I saw that one coming..).
