[12:00 PM EDT - No subject.]

I did it. I finally did it. I finished Half-Life last night, and to top it off, I also finished Half-Life: Uplink as well. The Uplink demo was amazingly short, but that's of course compared to the Day One demo. Now, all I have to do is get into Team Fortress Classic..

On the way back from school, I took a closer look at the semi-built building, and noticed a power cable extending from one of the walls. Next to it someone had written down

"Tim sign."

Which is pretty good proof that the new building will house a Tim Horton's. Yay. Donuts for everyone.

Found out after coming to school today (another hot and humid day) that Mr. Li will be coming with us to Ohio! Yay! This means that I won't have to be giving two talks next week and I can concentrate on getting my talk up and running. Of course, this also means that I finish early and can take it easy for the rest of the week seeing as the other talk is on Friday.

Speaking of the weather, the fact that it isn't summer yet is quite disturbing considering the number of hot and humid days that we've had recently. This, coupled with the fact that the bitterly cold winter we were supposed to have turned into a very balmy spring indicates that the coming summer will be one hell of a scorcher. Not something I'm looking forward to.

Talked to ShadowWhyspr for a bit while I was working at school. She wanted to do something tonight, but I really needed to do some work. Then again, while I was talking with her, I set up a dinner thing with Laz and Growly (see below). Whoops, she wasn't too happy about that, considering that she couldn't convince Lizard to drive her down either. Oh well.

Laz came down to visit again it seems. I didn't find out about it until this afternoon. Too bad, since I'm leaving tomorrow morning (I really should get to bed soon). We did go out to dinner to East Sides with Growly. There, we had an interesting conversation about real time strategy and star wars vs star trek situations. They also commented that the waitress that we had tonight (Jodie I think) was working at East Side's ever since we were here in first year. (That's a very long time) Personally, I didn't recognize her, but she reminded me very much of JTK's sister. Too bad she was his sister since she's probably one hell of a looker by now. Eh. It's an interesting story, but I won't get into it right now. (Too bad we didn't get that blond waitress.. hello nurse!)

I dragged both Growly and Laz to my place to show off Uplink which Laz was able to finish in half an hour or so (I told you it was short). It's a cool demo, too bad there's so little of it. Laz was telling me about his Mechwarrior 3 exploits, which is really giving me the itch to go out and buy the game. We'll see what others think..

Read an interesting article in Physics Today about how a bunch of researchers have gotten Traveling-Wave Thermoacousitc Heat Engines to Attain High Efficiency. One heck of a mouthful, but these engines could be used to replace the refrigeration units and possibly be used for other uses and the benefits include: no sliding seals, no moving parts, no chlorofluorocarbons, or other potentially dangerous refrigerants. Quite interesting really.

Alright, I'm starting to get a little tired here, and I really should get up early tomorrow. Man, I still have to pack as well.. this is gonna be a long day tomorrow..
