[12:00 PM EST - No subject.]

weirDo sent me a couple of links last night. One of them was about the progress of the human genome project, which explains that chromosome 22 has been fully mapped (if you consider 97% full). The other link is a little poke at Microsoft Office 2000.. I had to chuckle.

Oh yeah, for those of you interested (although it's unlikely), the official word about Theochem going down was sent yesterday:

Theochem will be shutdown for maintenance on WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 8th. This shutdown is expected to last ~3 days. Please move any files you will possibly need during this shutdown to another machine BEFORE this date.

and the kicker..

All mail sent to theochem during this shutdown will be unavailable, until theochem is restarted (at which point everyone can expect ~3 days worth of e-mail to arrive enmasse).

So don't send me any mail! (Unless you don't mind waiting a few days for a response.) My Sciborg account will still be up and running, and since my uwdir points to Sciborg, you can just drop the machine name. Now all I have to do is to remember to remove that .forward file..

Here's KGL's new .plan

It has to start somewhere
It has to start sometime
What better place than here
What better time than now
All hell can't stop us now

More lyrics I believe, although I don't recognize them.

Being my usual snobbish self, I figured that I'd try to put up as many positive comments about my site as I could possibly get. Squishy sent me a little comment a couple of days ago about the list of my favourite entries that I started to compile.

And I like that you've linked some of your favourite entries - I had read the piano one already and quite liked it.

If it has Squishy's stamp of approval, then it must be good! (She's got impeccable taste! ;)

Oh yeah, Laz liked the picture script that I got up and running. Unfortunately I deleted his e-mail message before I had a chance of quoting him.. (*hangs head*) That's alright, I think he'd prefer it this way..

Got in late today. Had to do laundry. I actually did start my laundry last night, but got a little distracted being the Opposing Force..

Speaking of the game, it's pretty good. The intro is shorter than in Half-Life, but considering how long the Half-Life intro was, it's not saying much. Quite interesting to watch though. I like how you can control a squad of marines as well as scientists and security guards. The way they set up the levels is okay, fairly linear, but the plot has been progressing very well. I'm not finished, but from what weirDo has told me, I'm more than halfway through the game, which is unfortunate, since that is pretty short.

Oh yeah, I probably won't be finishing it tonight since I'm going out for dinner.. hot pot! Whoo! So I'll give my final thoughts later this weekend.. hopefully.

Not really doing much with news today, but there's some hoopla going on about using cookies in e-mail. Saw it on ZDNet.

Hmm.. don't know what else to say. Not feeling particularly nostalgic, or philosophical, or loquacious today so I think I'll keep this one short. I want to go home and finish OpFor, but it seems like it's raining outside, so I can't blade back.. I probably shouldn't have bladed to school in the middle of the day. There was so much traffic! It was also a little wetter (and warmer!) than I had anticipated. Guess that happens when a warm front comes barrelling through..

Anyway, I was going to prove that I'm being less verbose than normal, but it seems as if I just shot myself in the foot there. Still, I'm not feeling particularly nostalgic nor philosophical so I don't have anything interesting to say anyway. Besides, nobody's updated their homepages, so I'm gonna get going. Hot pot awaits!
