[12:00 PM EST - No subject.]

Despite the amount of sun beating down into my room, the temperature outside is rather on the low side. The wind doesn't help much either. I'm gonna have fun going home: uphill and upwind. Oh hurrah.

No, I didn't go skating today. Blading on the other hand..

I'm still debating with myself about turning the Journal into a database. This all hinges on the probability that I'll be able to run CGI scripts wherever this page is hosted, and despite the near ubiquitousness of CGI, not everybody has it.

Hmm..

Been doing a bit of surfing and I came across this quote:

"It's a maxim in system security circles that buggy software opens up security holes. It's a maxim in software development circles that large, complex programs contain bugs."

Here's the site.

Uhh.. I also came across this:

"Although they can be used to create neat effects, scripts that leak system information are to be avoided. For example, the "finger" command often prints out the physical path to the fingered user's home directory and scripts that invoke finger leak this information (you really should disable the finger daemon entirely, preferably by removing it)."

Oops. Time to go through my scripts and start making them a little more secure. I probably should get MJO to test out some of my scripts for holes..

BTW, I've removed my finger script.

Gah, I'll need a bit of time to check for all the problems in my script, but I think I fixed the worst parts.. hopefully nobody will be deleting my home directory..

Alright, maybe I'm a little paranoid.. uh.. that's all I wanted to say.

Should go home and make dinner, X-Files/Millennium cross over tonight, let's see if it'll keep me awake huh?
