[12:00 PM EST - No subject.]

I tried. I tried to resist. But once I checked out my freezer (after remembering that I had sausages) I noticed that I had fifteen sausages frozen in there, so I figured I could crack open a couple of packages and use them in some spaghetti sauce. That meant that I didn't have to go out shopping for food, which meant that I had some time to kill..

So I had System Shock 2 installed. Boy.. I guess I'll be spending some time on my computer. A lot of time. This also means that I'll have to pick up a CPU fan soon, cuz the external fan is starting to annoy me somewhat. It's keeping the power source cool though, which is a good thing, but being cool in the wintertime isn't one of my favourite past times.

Anyway, I ended up skipping out on class last night on the assumption that I'd be shopping (which I probably won't be for a little while yet). But yesterday, I got a memo from the department with forms attached for a thesis extension. You see, I'm given only six terms to finish my thesis, and I won't be finishing it this term, thus I have to tell them why I'm taking so long, and how I'm going to go about finishing the rest of my thesis over the next little while. This would also include figuring out a thesis title.. but I'll have to think about that.

Also, Werdna told me a couple of days ago that the Cove has picked up one of those dancing arcade games! Whoo whee! I gotta go check it out before it disappears. This should be fun.

Oh yeah, also from Wednesday, I forgot to mention that I was shown how to do the backwards three-turn. Now, I can barely get the forwards three turn to work, and this backwards stuff was not exactly a piece of cake. Still, I'll see if I can practise during the recreational skating times..

I had a not as vivid dream last night.. I think whatever happened to me on Tuesday is wearing off now. I can't even remember what it was about. (Not like the first dream though.. man, that was strong..)

MJO sent this to me yesterday:

From Tuesday's NY Times:

Not So Fast, Merrymakers

Physicists have calculated that the arrival of the year 2000 will be delayed on Dec. 31, thanks to one of NASA's planetary probes.

The CERN Courier, a physics magazine published by the European Laboratory for Particle Physics, reported that in a slingshot manoeuvre performed last Aug. 18 to gain speed on its seven-year voyage to Saturn, NASA's Cassini-Huygens space vehicle gained speed at the Earth's expense, thereby slowing the Earth's orbital motion by about one-millionth of one-millionth of a second. Result: the blowing of horns should be delayed by that amount.

Man, now I have to reset my atomic clock..

Bladed to school again, weather's getting cold again. Anyway, I went by Ed's place for a CPU fan, but the place was closed, will have to go after school.

Oh yeah, Theochem will be going down in the beginning of December sometime for a couple of days. Ahh! Can I suffer the withdrawal?!? Well, it should be alright, I still have all of the other machines I'm on. We'll have to see what happens.

We wanted to go to J. Gatto's for lunch today, but when we got there, I remembered that the place had a renovation of sorts, and now it had a new name.

"Pemi's Grill"

weirDo noticed how a bit of whiteout could make the name.. a little harder to swallow. (Ironically Dusty got the foot long chili dog) Man, that was just bad. Anyway, the food was.. okay. But I still don't know why J. Gotto's disappeared.. At least I got a 1951 penny with my change. Had a picture of George VI on it. I think I'll be keeping this coin.

Hmm.. the Shugashack pointed me over to this site. Whatever.

I went down to the PAC to check on skating times, finding out that it was drizzling outside. Crap, can't blade home then. I figured I might as well check out that dancing game at the cove before I head back to the office. Well, when I got there, there was already a couple of guys playing the game, with a small audience. The name of the game was Dance Dance Revolution (so now you know) and after these two guys lost (they were doing okay, but any mistake will kill you) this Caucasian guy (alright, I should explain here. Most of the players on these games tend to be oriental - Chinese actually - so seeing this guy was a little of a shock) took off his jacket and said:

"Okay, I'll try."

So he proceeded to put money into the machine and looked at me.

"You're a CTRL-A exec right?"

Nod.

"That's where I've seen you from."

Then he proceeded to input a secret code, and hit the start button. As he was flipping through the discs, he mentioned how he played this game in Japan. None of the tracks had less than four feet! For clarification, the number of feet showing for each disc shows you how difficult the dance was. When you start off, the hardest discs have only five feet, the hardest discs on this one had nine, and he tried out one of the seven foot discs. Holy crap! It was nigh impossible, but he went through it like an expert, getting a near perfect score. Good lord. It's hard to explain unless you've seen it for yourself, but if you find yourself in an arcade, wander around a bit. It's hard to miss, it's the one that's spouting out a lot of J-Pop.

Yikes. After he did that a couple of times, he wasn't able to complete the eight foot disc, but still, it quashed whatever will I had to try out the game. After wandering around a bit, I went back to the office.

I should go and check up on the rink schedules and the fan. Bah. I'll finish up with these fits first. Gotta go and get these results done and off soon..
