Happy All Saint's Day!

Yeah, I think IE doesn't like the relative page widths I stuck into CSS so I'm going to make everyone suffer for now and make you read across the entire page. I'll be thinking of some way to fix that at some point in time.

KGL sent me this link, and when I inquired, she told me that I should go play the markets, make a million dollars, and then give the half to her. Pfft! (Mind you, that was my question to her.)

Speaking of KGL, I noticed that fingering people on Sciborg from an external machine won't always show off the .plan. Probably a permission flag or something. Anyway, KGL's got a new .plan up. It's somewhat darker than the last one..

Just remembered.. while I was talking with TCM and CD, they were asking me if I wanted to experimental work. They told me to "join the light side".

Alright, so you guys don't get it.

Laz has his comments about U9:

I played the new U9 demo.. it runs sort of choppy on my machine (P2-375-Cel,128 megs, G200), but apparently it's totally unplayable on my friend's P3-450, Voodoo3.

It's like Tomb-Raider with swords... and much more detail.. although the graphics didn't exactly blow me away. However, there are some pretty extreme distances involved in the landscapes.. maybe not as much as Delta Force, but you can see pretty far.

The demo features a LOT of Tomb Raider type puzzles (jumping, climbing, pushing buttons) which I'm not really much of a fan of. There's plenty of fighting and spell casting too, which is alright but the demo's AI is bad (to be rectified in the final version, this is really an unofficial beta demo). Fighting is simplistic, and i never got to use a shield.

Actually, now that I think about it, I never died either!

Interesting. I'm a little worried about the puzzles. From what I heard, the jumping puzzles were one of the problems with Pagan. We'll see how the final shapes up huh?

I remembered that thing that I forgot to talk about yesterday. I bought a copy of the Molecular Structure and Group Theory book when one of the authors came up to me and asked me if I wanted a copy. It was a good price, so what could I say? Anyhoo, I got him to sign it, so all I have to do is to get the other author to sign it now..

This morning, I scheduled out my morning so that I could eat breakfast at 8:30 and still have time to clean up before the talk at nine. Making it to the cafeteria, I ran into TCM, CD, and another (of the few) grad student.

They were asking me about my poster (which I had yet to fix up) so I explained to the what happened. They were snickering for some reason, but I ignored it. One of them then realized that we were late for the talks. What the.. Looking at my watch, I saw that it was only twenty to nine, so I was a little confused as to the rush. They explained to me that the talks started at 8:30. What? But they were at nine yesterday.. *groan*

Missed out on part of the first talk (ah well), but I found out before the break that the talks were going to be rescheduled on Wednesday so that we would finish before one. This was great news! This meant that I might actually be able to make it back to Waterloo in time for skating (and definitely in time for broomball). We'll keep our fingers crossed.

I took the time during the break (and after) to clean up my poster. Reaching the room, I walked over to my poster and noticed something odd. All the pages were in the same places as I left them but.. oh. Somebody had turned all my pages upside-down..

Uh huh.. and I had a pretty good idea who did this too..

Well, I bumped into TCM and CD later, and they laughed and laughed. Ah.. whatever.

I went back to the little shop and picked up some postcards that had just come in. They were all of the city (and looked twenty years old) so I couldn't get any of the Nav Centre. It's too bad, but at least I was able to find something to send out. I only got five though. The danged stamps cost twice as much as the postcards did! Oi.

What's with quakes and Taiwan? Geez.

Getting late now. I'm feeling stuffed as usual. Maybe I'm sick or something, but I've never been this full for this long before.. and it's all good free food! Something must be wrong with me.
