Geez Louise! I forgot to mention that Gozer told me that the two major.. connection services (Rogers - Cable modem, and Bell - ADSL) may be switching to dynamic IP addresses to clamp down on people who are using their computers as servers. They're not supposed to do this I think, and as Gozer mentioned, you basically get T1 service (albeit slower) for a fraction of the cost. Found it on Slashdot.

Got a call from my parents. Seems like my sister was coming back to the country last night. Too bad, if I went home this weekend, it would've been a family reunion.

Finished Baldur's Gate again. My ranger is level 8 and can finally cast some priest spells (although he can only memorize one. Gah.). Still, he's quite a formidable character, and I can't wait until the sequel comes out.. (if it ever does..)

I also figured out why the heck my screen kept screwing up whenever I played Half-Life. It seems that whenever I exit to the options screen, the resolution changes, and when I go back to the game, the system doesn't seem to switch back to the game resolution. One way to get around it is to change the desktop resolution so that it matches the game resolution. This is possible, but quite annoying. I'd rather not have to do this, since the Half-Life Day One demo didn't require this type of jury rigging to work. Ah well, at least I can play the game without having to exit all the time.

It's very humid today. There's apparently a severe storm watch for our area. Great, and I bladed to school as well. Hopefully I'll be able to make it back before anything starts hitting the ground.

Guess what? It seems like OMok DID know Carrie. Oh man, I guess I'll have to explain a bit. OMok you guys know about, and if you don't, you should go to his homepage and find out for yourself. Carrie on the other hand, I first met on Conf! and internal conference thing here at UW. Anyhoo, she and I talked a lot on it and she had this habit of calling me a "silly old bear". I was just a little surprised that she knew OMok, since they weren't in the same faculty, much less the same program.

I really should tell Laz this, he should remember her.

Speaking of Laz, he would be very interested that the final OpenGL ICD is out for the G200! It apparently improves the 16bit 640x480 speed by 25% over the last beta drivers. Unfortunately, it's bundled with Powerdesk v5.13, which has no uninstall feature. (Some sort of driver agreement with Microsoft which didn't allow them to add one - don't ask me why). Anyhoo, I found this out at the MURC G200 site, and if you want the driver, click here. Remember to completely uninstall the previous Powerdesk version or this may not work..

Great, I just volunteered myself to write up some commentary on behalf of the CTRL-A execs for our newsletter revival. Oi. Time to crack open a bottle of BS..

Finally moved most of my bookmarks onto my links page. Was getting annoyed that I forgot some page addies when I wasn't using the computer here at school.

Now some of you might be wondering.. "Why the heck is QYV still at school?" Good question, why am I still here? We basically have a long weekend and I really should be out enjoying it. Well.. let's see now. I have a good excuse for staying.. like.. cleaning up my room, and doing work, but I just want to laze around, and the best place to do it is here, since everyone has gone away for the weekend. Good enough excuse?

Took a peek at the Park Wars trailer, brought to you by the makers of South Park.. Mmm.. it was interesting..

I gotta reply to my mail soon (like Squishy.. I really gotta visit her), and fix these font sizes.. it still keeps switching on me. Perhaps because I use "relative" sizes rather than absolute sizes and when I go to a page which dinks around with font sizes, it screws up my fonts.. Hmm..

Well, time to go home and test out this new OpenGL ICD.. hope it doesn't kill my system..
