Last night when I came home from school, I managed to peek at the bird's nest on top of the porch lamp and saw a little head bobbing up and down, so I assume that our little feathered friend is back (the bird was gone for the past week or so). Ain't dat cute???
Woke up today, with the usual flair and zest as I wake up on every other day (i.e. none), and went to the bathroom to take a shower. I turn on the tap and someone knocks on the door. It's Hazel. She's standing there in her robe and towel and she tells me:
There's no hot water.
Aww crap.
Seems like she was able to sneak out a minute of luke warm water before the shower (which was set to hot water only) froze on her. Great, that meant that either I wait till the water warms up, or I go to school without showering. To save the people at work some grief, I decided to hang around at home for a little while.
Ended up talking with Hazel for a hour and so (and playing a bit of Unreal) before trying out the water again two hours later. I was wondering why we've been getting so little hot water recently, and Hazel and ChuckL have a theory.. It's all HNT's fault!! Well apparently, when they were living with HNT (And MSand HaremPresident) before, there seemed to be a shortage in hot water in the apartment. It couldn't be because of the tank because it was designed for use in a house, so it should be plenty for apartment use. The obvious culprit was Hazel, being the only girl in the group. Well, one day, a couple of the guys waited in front of the bathroom to accost the culprit, were surprised to see HNT walking out of the shower..
So you see why ChuckL always takes his showers at night huh? Smart guy. The other way to get around this is to take a shower before HNT, which could be 7 in the morning for all I know (I can never tell when HNT gets up). Eh, I'll just have to talk to him about it. In the end, I did take a shower today, although it was one of the fastest cold showers I've ever had (even after two hours the water was only luke warm)!
Anyway, I made it to school with time to spare.. time to spare for what you ask? Well, I took out the whole group out to lunch. (six of us, HW didn't join in the fun) I had scheduled the time for noon, and I got to school at something like 11:30.. a close call. Anyway, dragged (Actually, they came willingly since I was paying) everyone out to the Fox and Pheasant for a little drinking and eating.
With computer news, well.. some stuff has happened, but you can go to ArsTechnica to check out some of the more juicy bits (I can't go through it all here). Also I should mention that the address for ArsTechnica doesn't have the hyphen anymore, so be careful..
After a couple of weeks, I got a response from Magnifica! My my.. it seems like her computer's hard drive kicked the bucket and she lost two of the messages that I sent her. I guess I'll have to send her copies, but it was kinda scary seeing the subject line:
"I'm sorry to do this to do you but..."
I thought she was gonna tell me to suck on a spoon till my eyes popped out or something. Well, that goes to show how optimistic I am..
Wow, ShadowWhyspr sent me a message! Talking to her right now.. doesn't seem like much is going on in her life..
I should get going now.. need food, and it would be nice to actually go home early for once..
