[12:23 AM EDT - SBT: CO2.]

Growly asked me a little while ago why I haven't been throwing any brain teasers up on my site lately. The answer is: I didn't have any. Actually, I do have a few, but no good ones. I figured that I'd do some snooping around and came across one that I judged too quickly. Here it is:

One day, a group of scientist had a wine party. One of the scientists decided to do an experiment. He got a sheet of paper and wrote CARBON DIOXIDE, all in capital letters, upside down on a piece of paper. He then turned a wine glass on its side and put the paper under it in such a way that the word CARBON was under the cup of the glass and the word DIOXIDE was under the stem. When they looked at the paper through the glass, they saw that the word CARBON was still upside down, but the word DIOXIDE was right side up.

Why is this so?

Any answers? This should be an easy one. Just don't use the internet, you don't need to. (I've got a few others in my head that just came to mind, I'll throw them up as they are needed.)

[10:15 AM EDT - Grinding the gears.]

Ah, so that's what I was doing. Jules has informed me what I was doing when I was shifting half-clutched. While I was looking it up, I came across some guy talking about double clutching.

[10:19 AM EDT - More job opportunities.]

Hmm, I forgot to mention this yesterday, but the chiropractor I went to, after he found out that I was a computer programmer, asked me if I knew how long and how much it would cost to write up a custom program to take measurements of a person's spine and keep a record of their progress. I think it's doable within a year or so with a group of programmers, but details are still sketchy.

[10:22 AM EDT - SSH! Faster?]

Hmm, since I've switched from telnetting in to sshing into my box, it seems as if the connection that I have is a lot faster, or at least the response is a lot better. This doesn't seem to make much sense to me since most of the reason for the lag should be network related and not program specific (I would've thought the more secure ssh protocol would be slower).

Ah well, I'm not complaining.
