[Thursday, July 5, 2001: Canada Day around Montréal.]

I woke up fairly early today because of some noise coming from the kitchen. Actually, most of the noise came from the two eighty pound alarm clocks that somehow managed to wake up at seven in the morning and started wreaking havoc. (I didn't wake up until nine, so I slept through most of the noise.)

Breakfast was pretty darned good. It consisted mostly of fruits (most of which were sour to my chagrin - woke me up at least) and bagels. The plan was to go out to breakfast with the Ws and then figure out what to do afterward.

So, a couple of us headed out to Chez Cora (I think we looked at that place for breakfast the last time I was in Montreal but decided not to go in). It was too bad I was full before I got there, because breakfast was being paid for. *clenches bulging stomach*

The food was okay, and we headed out to check out the Ws new place. After hanging around there for a bit, MW, girl and I decided to go roller blading down at the old part of town. We drove down there and it took us a some time to find a good parking space. (We eventually ended up parking "Montreal style". i.e. anywhere there was space.)

Just as girl was finishing lacing up (the rest of us were much quicker with our equipment), it started to rain. Ah yes, girl and her bad weather. We sat there wondering what we would do, when we decided to go back into the car in the hopes of finding a part of the city that wasn't being rained on. We hopped back in, and realized at the folly of our decision and decided instead to go ice skating instead. I didn't know that there was an ice rink down in one of the malls downtown, so I was eager to go. (I haven't gone ice skating in months!)

The rink was pretty small, but there were people skating there (including some figure skaters and some cute teens *wiggles eyebrows*). We were also able to rent skates, which was convenient, since I wanted to try on some figure skates. Unfortunately, when I went down to ask for some men's figure skates, I was told that there weren't any, so I begrudgingly accepted the hockey skates. Strike two came as we went on the ice, I couldn't find any grip on the ice! Getting off the surface, I checked the blade and realized that these skates weren't sharpened. Not at all! (The blade was as flat as the prairies!) It made control somewhat harder, and it took me some time to get used to it. Because of the lack of edges, I couldn't really do any of the stuff I wanted to do properly. *eyes figure skaters*

Ah well, we got some exercise out of it, and it was fun to slide around on ice as well. It had been a while.

Once the rain let up, we got out of the rink and went down to the old ports to walk around. I remember walking around the dock area long ago when I came with JW, Stonaday, and JH. Man, that was over ten years ago!

The weather had just turned hot and muggy, so the walk was okay, as long as you didn't stay in the sun too long. When we saw more clouds rolling in, I suggested that we go and play some pool. MW brought is down to Sharx for a few rounds of cutthroat. Isn't it strange that I was there last time as well? Eerie.

While down at Sharx, I saw some pretty darned attractive (Chinese) girls walk out. I didn't think they grew them that good up here. (Maybe I should visit more often! =)

Afterward, we headed out to Beni Hana for dinner. (MW remembered - too late - that there was stuff going on at the Formula One area and that was where we should've gone. Oh well.) We saw KW at work, and had some really good sushi/sashimi. Oh man, the eel was REALLY good. The pieces were pretty large too! It was too bad that I was still somewhat full after our double breakfast, but I tried stuffing as much raw seafood into me as possible! *pats tummy contentedly*

When we left the restaurant, the weather had turned bitterly cold. The gale force winds didn't help either, although I was pretty happy with the turn of events, most of the rest of the group must've thought that winter had returned. Strage weather doesn't happen that often huh? *looks at girl*

We headed out to the Cs place to chat. I was being driven by MW and we didn't notice anything unusual on the trip there, but apparently, the fireworks (which we missed) were still going on and could be seen from the autoroute (which we didn't see) and there was also some sort of commotion going on, with many police cars and car chases and stuff like that. Hmm, I guess I went in the wrong car huh?

Actually, KW wanted to go to the casino or at least to play MJ (and lose his money) but we somehow managed not to. It probably had to do with the fact that nobody else really wanted to play MJ or go to the casino.

We stayed for a couple of hours before heading back home, which was good, since I my feet were killing me, and I was barely concious. Still it was a good day all in all with lots of good food!
