[2:47 AM EDT - Down to the town.]

Not much tonight, went downtown for dinner with HR, SS, KH, and another one of their friends. Afterward, we went out to play pool with Jules and HW. Actually, I recognized HW from a previous encounter: I met her in a computer lab at UW! She recognized me, but I didn't recognize her (I don't think I ever met her before that).

Anyway, getting tired. Must sleep.

[Sunday, July 22, 2001: Despectacled.]

I woke up late today due to the previous night's meanderings downtown. Of course, the first thing I do is turn on the computer and hack away at Ascension. I figured that I was close to getting to the end and wanted to finish the game this weekend so that I'd have time next week to do other stuff. (Like what? I dunno..)

Fortunately, I was able to pull myself away from the computer when roller hockey time rolled around. (Well, I was a little late because they never started on time anyway.) I was right, by the time I had got there, they had just started to throw sticks into the middle, so I basically got there right on time! Despite having had a lot of rest this week (if you consider sitting in front of a CRT 24/7 a lot of rest) I got very tired very quickly today. Actually, it was more "I'm sweating so much I can't see" sort of tired. The humidity was high and rain was forecasted for the afternoon, but the temperature stayed rather warm, so the general atmosphere did not help when doing strenuous activity (you know me and exercising in warm, humid weather). By the time we were two hours in, I was pretty much winded every (short) shift. Drinking water didn't help much, I think the only thing that would've eased my troubles was a nice, cool shower. Mmm..

Anyway, I think the heat and exaustion got to me because during the break after the second game, I got this stupid idea to try a 3-turn. I don't know what came over me, but 3-turns required going from one edge of the blade to the other edge. Inline skates don't have edges, but I've been able to do it before (albiet with much difficulty) and had I been in good condition, I probably would've been able to succeed, but I wasn't, so I found myself heading towards the concrete. I was able to stop my fall with my hands (it's hard to breakfall when you're falling forward) so I was able to protect myself. Unfortunately, my glasses did not stay attached to my head, and they hit the floor at full speed. My glasses have been through a lot actually, since I wear them all of the time when I play sports, but it's very infrequent that I play on concrete, and it's a hard lesson learned because when I put my glasses back on, my right lens looked a bit funny. I took my glasses off to inspect them and noticed a nice crack running down the middle of the lens. Argh! Piss me off royally!

Well, I ended up playing the rest of the game with the broken lens (which is pretty dumb if you think about it since one hit to the face and I've got glass shards going straight into my eyeball). But the most ironic part is that one of the girls had just asked me why I played with my glasses (without one of those straps). Foreshadowning! Foreshadowing! Is my life based on a movie script or something? Yeesh!

Oh, to top it off, near the end of the last game, I fell backwards and landed on my elbow. I was too tired at that point to protect myself so the full force of the landing was right on the joint. Ooch, and it still smarts when I touch it. Not a good outing that was..

Afterward, I got picked up by girl, JW, and NY. Although JW and NY where only along for the ride because they wanted coffee. (Those caffeine addicts.)

The birthday party was okay, although I got there late, and I was too tired/sore to do much. Well, not much was going on. The grandparents were MJing, the adults where talking, and the kids were playing video games. Ooh, exciting.
