[12:18 AM EDT - Back from the Mont.]

Hey, we got stuck in traffic and got home somewhat later than anticipated (about an hour delayed). I was lucky enough to have missed out on the traffic on my shift at the wheel, and got a semi-okay nap on my break, but I'm still feeling a little tired right now.

Anyway, It was all good, but I want to sleep..

[9:55 AM EDT - Back to work.]

Well, here I am back at work. Things seem to be going back to the usual bump and grind it seems.

Oh boy. Bugs to fix and apartments to vacuum. Goody. Back to work.

[4:27 PM EDT - Saving up.]

I'm gonna start saving up for a car/place to live with my next paycheque. I'm not quite sure what I'm going to get, and I'm not sure how much it'll cost, but I figure that I'll have a better idea in a year or so.

Hmm, it's funny now that I think about it, although I prepare for the future, I don't plan for it. What the heck will I be doing in a year? It's not that far off if you think about it. It's been over a year since I defended. Heck, it's been over a year since I got injured!

Wow. Time really does fly doesn't it? Things that seemed so important before are just faded memories, people who I wanted to be with forever are now but idealistic hopes from a more naive time. Objects I once cherished now sit unneeded, gathering dust in forgotten locations.

I look at myself now and realize how little some parts of my life now will matter to me a few years down the road and how the little things are what matter in the end.

Life can be so transient when you want it to be.

[5:44 PM EDT - Still young.]

When I was showing off some of my pictures last weekend, the comment was made that everyone in the picture was really old. That got me thinking. All these groups of people I've played sports with, be it ultimate (late twenties, early thirties), badminton (late forties, early fifties), broomball (mid forties, early fifties), or broomball Victoria (thirties), all of these groups have been (as a group) older than me. Why am I playing with older people? Well, I think that's a question I'll leave for another time, but I do play with people my age (roller hockey and volleyball for example). But it got me thinking: These people have been playing their respective sports for a long time, and they enjoy it quite a bit. It gave me a lot of confidence to think that maybe I too will be as active and happy in my old age. It's one thing to read about it in the papers, but to actually play with these types of people.. it really makes a big difference. Another thing that you gain from playing with the older generation is experience. They've got a lot under their belt, and it's so much easier being told what I'm doing wrong than it is to figure it out by myself (especially if I don't think I'm doing anything wrong).

I've been playing sports for the past several years because I wanted to have fun, and to enjoy my spare time (of which I have lots). Usually I ended up playing with people around my age and skill level, which makes it enjoyable, but once you start playing with people who are better and more experienced than you, you've suddenly tapped into a huge resource. You can learn. You can learn to be better much faster. I think that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to play for fun, but I'm going to learn. I'm going to learn the skills and tricks from the masters and throw it back at them. I'm going to improve myself and become a master myself. I'm going to gain the experience and skills so that I can teach those who will come after me.

And perhaps, I'll figure out what life is all about.

[6:39 PM EDT - Tweaking some RAID goodness.]

I got a link from Werdna for tweaking another one of those Promise RAID chips. Man, I remember their ATA/66 controler which you could convert into a RAID controler over a year ago. Too bad I didn't keep the link.
