[12:00 PM EDT - No subject.]

Hrumph. Jax and Laz have changed their .plan files recently. Here is Laz's:

I had this dream last night.. I was rooming with these two raven-haired girls. Shahab, Growly, and a few other guys came over.. we were just hanging out in the living room. Details are a bit fuzzy, but strewn about the apartment were some guns and weapons of various sorts... I remember donning a pair of night- vision goggles. Apparently, we were hunting/fighting monsters in this arena/corporate business park.

Uhm... so yeah, I got friendly with one of the raven-haired. What can I say?

Bizarre..

Got up a little earlier today than I did yesterday, which is not saying much. It was pouring outside so I couldn't bring my blades, too bad I didn't have my bike. I've biked in worse weather. Day went by quickly. Got caught up with most of my e-mail, and started hacking away at my work load.

Today was the first CTRL-A meeting for the term, and we had quite a number of people show up. Many returning faces, but there were a number of new faces as well. Hopefully, we'll see more of these new people returning later this term. louder showed up as well, which was good, since he wanted to help out with the AX. I even asked him if he wanted to go out to dinner with the rest of us. He told me that he'd have to talk to Stripes about that, and funny enough, just as we were leaving the meeting, Stripes bumped into us.

I was able to convince them (and the AX editor) to come along with us to eat some Vietnamese food. They seemed to like it, just about as much as they liked making fun of me. Too bad the editor was a little quiet, louder and Stripes were making such a stir, I was surprised anyone could sit still for long.

Final thoughts about Frosh Week 99: Well.. This year's frosh week was quite fun. I didn't have my camera available, so I wasn't able to take any pictures of the event, however, there were plenty of other cameras around, so I need to get some duplicates off of someone. I met a lot of new people and saw a lot of the old guard. Yes, part of the frosh leaders are cliquey, but they are generally quite outgoing and friendly. It's too bad I didn't get into this earlier, but I think this will be my last time. I'm getting too old for this..

It's getting late, so I'll keep my other comments for another time..

Checked out the news on ArsTechnica and two news stories caught my attention. The first one was from news.com about a new MP3 player which will actually play MP3s off of CD's! Now that is a bit of news I've been waiting to hear for years..

The second story is on ZDNet about a cheap EMP gun that some ex-navy seal built from easy-to-get parts and a few hundred bucks. Strong enough to temporally fry some electronics, and dangerous enough to cause serious damage when pointed at the right target. I want to get my hands on one of these!

Found another interesting story on ZDNet about another possible security hole in Hotmail. Great, more of these, and I might be worried someone might want to read all of my spam!

It's time for me to get going. Cleaned up some of the HTML, adding some paragraph ending tags to be a little more strict with the code. I hope I don't have to do this too often, the site is getting quite large, and doing all this by hand is tedious!
