[8:20 AM EDT - Weekend outing.]

Hmm, I'm up early on a long weekend. Something must be amiss since I was up late last night! (Playing CS no less.)

[8:34 AM EDT - How about fushia?]

I like the idea of having a set of these new tires.

[9:22 PM EDT - Sibbald Point II.]

I just got back from Sibbald Point. The plan for today was to go to a river bend at the end of the eighth concession road in Georgina, but we couldn't find the road and the maps that we had were incomplete, so we went to Sibbald Point instead (which was only ten minutes away). We stopped off at the place we were last time, before deciding on a location to set up camp. One of us went the store to get something, and we waited ten minutes before he came rushing back the cars with his breakfast. We were wonderng why he got breakfast when we had so much food, but he came back with a pair of hash browns for each of us since they were trying to get rid of them at the restaurant. Bonus! *gives thumbs up*

After we had set up camp next to the water, we started making lunch. Lunch consisted of sausages, lots of sausages, and a few fish balls. I don't know about you, but for some reason, I can't hold my sausages. After one or two, I lose my appetite even though my stomach's not that full. The forecasted high for today was twenty-one degrees, but it felt a lot colder than that with the wind once the clouds rolled in. I had thought of bringing along a jacket but thought that the sunshine would be enough to keep me warm. Whoops. BL decided to go out exploring for a place to fish, so he took his fishing pole, and headed out. KK, FB, and I went to join him. Our search for water proved to be quite fruitless. First of all, we didn't have a map, and the people we asked for directions weren't very helpful. It basically became a hike where BL would see a break in the woods and say: "I wonder where this goes?" before diving into the bush, and we'd follow him. I'd do a Family Circus style map of the route we took (like FlyingS's trip around Waterloo) but I can't seem to find a trail map on the internet. Sucky. Well, just take my word for it, we ended up walking around all of the north western quadrant of the park before making it back to the site, tired and hungry.

On the final leg of the walk, we ended up walking along the lakeshore which was pretty difficult since there was not much leeway between the water and the steep embankment and the ground was composed of loose, smooth stones. The size of the stones varied in size from marbles to eggs depending on where we were, but it took us some time before we were able to waddle our way back to the site. One this stretch of the hike, we noticed that the entire area was plastered with ladybugs. I mean, the ground was carpeted with them. It was difficult to walk around without stepping on one, but fortunately, they weren't as much of a nuisence as the hornets were.

After sitting around eating a bit of food (and throwing the disc), BL got a little stir crazy again (well, the horde of hornets must've contributed to that) and we went off to look for the lagoon. I should explain. While looking for a place to fish, we came across a map of the park, and in the south eastern quadrant, there was a body of water labeled a "lagoon" which was large enough and seemed an ideal spot for fishing. But when we, well FB - who did all of the asking, asked a couple of park employees about it, they told him that it was basically a cess pool, which detered us from going on the first trip. Well, BL wanted to check it out, and this time HBK and DL joined the hiking party.

This time, we headed down the eastern part of the park and made a beeline towards the lagoon. Or at least to where the lagoon should've been. We, in our infinite wisdom, did not bring along a map despite our earlier faliure. Again, it became another game of BL looking at a break of the trees and asking "Why don't we go this way?" before walking into no-man's land. This way, we ended up walking through the Blair Witch forest (at least that's what we called it) and the no-entrance trash pile (well, we went in the side way and didn't see the sign), the poilce taped "do not enter" area (although the tape was broken - we eventually doubled back when we realized that it was going nowhere) and the dead bird (which we pointed at and shouted "West Nile!" - West Nile was a recurring motif during that entire trip). We hiked, basically in a circle (or two) for two hours. We did come across a body of water in the first thirty minutes of the journey, but the guys didn't believe me when I told them that was the lagoon. They wanted to see a cess pool, and this was a nature reserve for birds, complete with barbed wire chain linked fence and warning signs. Ah yes, it was indeed a long walk.

We had dinner when we got back and packed up as soon as we had finished eating (a couple of hours later). It was good, all you can eat food and for peanuts! *makes money sound*

We should do it again, maybe at a different park with different hiking trails. (So we can get lost yet again.)
