[10:08 AM EST - Awake.]

Yup, I've got to be up now because I've got some skating to do. Actually, there's lunch, skate sharpening, bank visiting, and people pickuping as well, but the main focus of the day will be skating. I should get ready soon, I have to leave in less than an hour.

Anyway, KGL and Laz both have things up. I agree with Craig, it's one's own walls that prevent them from being happy. I also got some very interesting insight from someone far away about being too nice. I was told that guys who are too nice lose their "boy" status and are labeled as "just friends". I might be inclined to agree. Nice guys finish last right? Well, what are your opinions?

[10:17 AM EST - Before I go.]

We've already passed by the shortest day of the year, so we can all look ahead to more sunshine for the rest of the year! Too bad it's going to get a LOT colder.. (Whee!)

There is some news I wanted to link up before I go. All of these articles are from the ShackNews. The first is about some dead ringer, the second is about the impending war between Russia and the Salvation Army, and finally, although slapping someone's butt is not polite, you've got to be joking.

Time to get cleaned up.

[4:15 PM EST - Freeze skating.]

I had a good time today. After picking up CJF and going out to lunch we got our skates sharpened, contacted one of CJF's friends, and headed down to the rink at the Civic Centre. Heck, it was free, and I figured that the shelter would shield us partially from the wind (and bitter cold). There was a camera crew out there when we made it to the rink, we weren't sure if they were still filming or not, but after hiding in the corner for several minutes, I got fed up and went around the full length of the rink. Most of the people out there were teenagers, probably out from high school. They tended to go on and off fairly often, so there were breaks where I was the only one on the ice (quite fun actually). Oh yeah, I overheard one on the girls who was skating talk to the reporter, and I think she mentioned something about the bit showing up on the evening news on Channel 6 or 10. I'm not sure which.

We stayed out at the rink for a good two hours before heading in. We walked around around the mall for a little while after that before going back home.

That's about it. I'll see what else is going on in the world today.

[Sunday, December 24, 2000: 2nd Shocked System.]

Basically right after I had finished my previous entry, I got a call from Laz. It seems as if he and Werdna had nothing to do that night and was wondering if I was interested in continuing the fight against the Analids.. Heck yeah! The plan then was to go shopping for a little while for last minute Christmas gifts (including finding food) before heading off to Laz's place to finish off the game. Well, I quickly took apart my computer and waited (for a while) before Laz showed up to pick me up. We headed down to Werdna's place to pick him up as well (he gave me some chocolate and maple syrup that he didn't like) and we went shopping.

We wandered around the Town Centre (sound familiar?) before settling on chocolates. Lots of chocolates. We also grabbed some food down in one of the restaurants in the mall (not a good idea, it was expensive and not that great) and headed back to Werdna's place to pick up our hardware. (We left our stuff there so that car peekers wouldn't be tempted to take it from the mini.)

We made it back to Laz's place around nine-thirty and proceeded to set up the LAN. After about half-an-hour, we were off and running around the halls of the Von Braun. We continued where we left off and made good time (we didn't have any crashes) until three hours in when my computer kicked me out of the game while loading up a level. Doh. We tried again. It kicked me out again. We tried loading an earlier level. No dice. I tried loading it myself. Nada. I tried reinstalling the game. Zip. Werdna tried from his computer, and he was able to make it in, sort of. We tried from an even earlier save game (which would put us back to the end of last week's adventure) and it worked! Too bad Werdna overwrote his old save files. What was he thinking? (Even I had backed mine up.) This meant that it was the save files that were corrupted, and since Werdna killed his save files, our games were FUBARed. There was nothing we could do except probably start over again. (I do have one more ace up my sleeve that I haven't tried yet.)

Bah. We ended up playing Counter-Strike for the rest of the night to drown our sorrows, but after a few hours of that, we went into a zombie-like mode where we went through the actions, but couldn't think properly and couldn't come up with any tactics. Staying up until the sun rose probably had something to do with it.

Since I was supposed to go and play hockey that morning at ten, I figured that I should call it a night. We packed up our stuff, and I got dropped off at home around half-past-seven. I went straight to bed.
