[2:26 AM EST - Happy 3rd Millennium!]

Whee! I hope you all enjoyed the New Year's festivities. I spent the night at my aunt's place along with two dozen other revelers. It was pretty fun, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Oh man, there were some interesting episodes, like DL smelling VW's hair, or the questions for money thing, or.. well, I think that's about it. I think I should go to bed now. I've got one more day before I start living for the rest of my life. *sigh*

So for all of you folks still awake out there. Drink up! There's plenty where that came from! *cheers*

[10:43 AM EST - Morning!]

How are you folks doing? Sleeping I see. I don't have much planned for today, although I've got some reasearch to do with respect to my new computer purchase. I'm not sure if my other cards have been fried or not, but I'll assume that they're okay. (Yeah, yeah, I really should test them.) Anyway, time to look up some prices..

[1:02 PM EST - The plan.]

I think I'm going to go the upgrade route. However, I still will want to salvage as much of my old system as possible. The plan is to find another BH6 or BP6 motherboard and then cobble together a Win2k system and use it as a CD-RW and scanning machine. I may also stick on the printer, but then I'll have to figure out how to print to the Windows printer from Linux. Ah, the joys of home networking. I've got most of the parts I need (once I get the upgrade system). The only things I need right now is a motherboard, and hard drive.

That's it. Wow. Now the other thing that I need is money, and some computer purchasing savvy. Hey, maybe MJO can throw in his two bits when he comes to town tomorrow.

[2:37 PM EST - Clear skies.]

What a nice day it is today. Sunny and clear. Probably cold as heck, but this will be great skating weather. Hmm, skating huh? *ponders*

I think I'll be heading out soon. I just found out that I also need another network card to go with my new system if I continue with my plans for an upgrade. I'll also need a AT-PS2 converter as well. Oi, this is getting so annoying!

Updatewise, I didn't notice anything new. I think I forgot to mention that Laz had thrown up something before he headed out to Waterloo for New Year's. I'm not particularly sure when he's coming back though. Oh man, that reminds me, I've got some e-mail to send.

[2:59 PM EST - Okay, maybe there was one.]

So I missed Jax's final update of the year. Hey, I was in a rush! Anyway, she goes on to talk about her first thoughts about being accepted to the gifted program all those years ago. Boy. Gifted. It's funny how some very bright kids were left out (I can think of at least one), while some other students ended up with the program although they really had no business being there (I can think of at least one as well). SLWD and I were talking about this sort of stuff when he drove me back home. It's amazing when you look back how some people turned out.

I remember when I was given the choice whether to begin going to Churchill Heights immediately, or to finish off the year (It was mid-May) at Anson S. Taylor. I chose to start immediately. A few years later, when I bumped into NS, he asked me why I left so suddenly and didn'f finish off the year at AST. He went on to tell me how they had this big farewell party for our student teacher (who's name I can't recall, but I think he was Australian) and that it would've been ideal as a farewell party for me as well.

I didn't have an answer to that. What could I say? It felt "right"? It's my nature? Perhaps in five years time, I'll just pick up my stakes and leave never bothering to tell people where I went. I guess it is in my nature; all I need is a kick and then I'm gone. Funny that.

Okay, now I need a kick to go and skate. One.. two..

[10:53 PM EST - The stage is set.]

So I go to work tomorrow. Goody. Too much to do, so little time to do it in. I just had a little discussion with Laz about the pros and cons of grabbing an Athlon system. But first thing's first. We must entertain MJO and get my other computer back online. (Which means I have to find a motherboard somewhere.) I guess I should check out usenet sometime. I haven't checked news in a LONG time..

I guess it's time for me to go to sleep. I don't want to be late on the first day of work now do I?
