I've decided to test out this windows thing. I'm not sure how effective it will be, or how annoying, but I'll leave it up for now to see what happens.

They're more about usability than purely esthetic (since who can argue with blue-green-black!? hehe)
Reasons I don't like it:
- "Add a comment" should be attached to the entry, not heading up the comments themselves.
- the calendar on the right has no business there: it's not prime content so shouldn't be "above the fold"..move it to the bottom of the page -- visible only after some scrolling. Also it distracts BOTH from the comments and the entries because it's not separated from either properly (the hr is weak..and there's no vr in HTML!)
Lastly, the calendar's usefulness is arguable.. without a Month-by-Month navigation control, or at least showing the previous month, its scope for searching becomes annoyingly limited. Keep the dropdowns, though, since their scope spans the whole site.
- having said all that, the only thing more annoying than an awkward interface/layout is one that changes to something different (and equally awkward) as soon as I've learned it! *laugh*
