[Monday, May 22, 2000: Talking with the Queen.]

Realizing that I hadn't contacted anyone (or haven't gotten replies from the people who I tried contacting), I phoned around to see who was actually in town. For some reason, I gave QoS a call. For some other reason she was actually there to take the call.

It's been.. years since I talked to her last. I mean, really talked. It felt kind of weird at first since.. well.. we didn't have much to talk about, but we kept going, and going. At least we didn't have those huge silent gaps in the conversations. The type of gaps where neither person feels comfortable with, but didn't have anything good enough to say to actually break the silence. Man, those are annoying. I dunno, I don't know if I should've called her or not. I don't know if I would've been better not knowing how she's been doing. I don't know if anything I did with her was right or wrong. Hrumph. And now here we are. Ah well, maybe some things are better left unmentioned.

Seeing as I couldn't find anyone to go biking with, I decided to go for a walk. Went walking through Goldhawk Park and Milliken Park. There were so many people out and about, it was crazy! The weather was nice enough though. Too bad I was wearing some pretty asphyxiating jeans or I would've walked a bit more.

What I really want to do actually is to go biking. There's nothing I've got planned next next weekend, and the Ride for Heart is on that Sunday.. We'll see.

I noticed next to my bed this calander thing I used to use. It had the day, month and weekday highlighted to whatever day it was, except that you had to change it manually. So every day, I would religiously move the day down a notch, and the weekday down a notch so that the date showing was the proper date. Then it became every week or so, then every month, then.. I stopped.

Glancing at the calander thing (I have no idea what it's called), I saw that the last date that I had left showing on the calander was Monday, May 22. Funny. The last time I changed the date was five years ago, and the next time I look at the calander, it's still going to be correct. I found that a little spooky.

While girl was making food, we heard this strange (and loud) buzzing noise. For a few minutes, we looked around the house before realizing that the noise was coming from the basement. Once we got there, we found out that the noise was actually coming from the smoke detector in one of the rooms (with the furnace) in the basement! Just as we entered the room, the alarm mysteriously turned off. We could smell that something had been burning down there, but couldn't seem to pinpoint where the smoke originated. It wasn't the furnace (as it wasn't even on at that time), and it probably wasn't the water heater. We had no idea (we still have no idea). Another spooky event.

While I was outside that night, I could hear some eager pyromaniacs were setting off some fireworks early. I probably should've lit a few of my stash, but it's no fun by yourself. I didn't bring any back to Waterloo because, as I said before, it's no fun by yourself. Maybe next year.
