[11:31 AM EDT - Late.]

Late as usual. Oh well. The weather didn't help much. We've been having some pretty wet days for the past two weeks. I haven't seen this much rain, well, in a long time.

I just remembered. Last week after coming back from skating, I was told that one of the guys who usually goes skating used to play for the Buffalo Sabres! Wow! I didn't know that (I was wondering why he did so many hockey drills). On top of that, I found out yesterday that one of the broomball players who always wore the Buffalo Sabres jersey played for the national broomball team! No wonder why he was so good (although we still beat their team handily).

No word yet on a ride home..

[1:08 PM EDT - Wet.]

It started raining again. I somehow missed it on the way to school, but I got hit by a shower on the way to the rink. Spent a little time skating, but I don't feel like I've improved at all this time. Actually, I think I've been getting worse or something. Anyway.. Hmm. I think that's about it for now.

[2:02 PM EDT - Partial Solution.]

I might as well put up the full partial solution to the problem I posed a couple of days ago. This solution is basically the solution Laz posted except there are a couple of additions:

Consider:

  1. A - liar
  2. B - only lies if hears lie previously
  3. C - only lies if hears truth previously

Q1 - "After this question, who will lie?"

  1. A will say C (lie)
  2. B will say A (truth)
  3. B will say C (truth)
  4. C will say A (truth)
  5. C will say C (truth)

Q2 - "Which way will he say the Tower isn't?"

  1. Asking A while pointing at B will give the right direction
  2. Asking B while pointing at C will give the right direction
  3. Asking B while pointing at A will give the right direction
  4. Asking C while pointing at B will give the right direction
  5. Asking C while pointing at C will give the right direction

Because the fifth case is unique (the only case where the Hecker points to him/herself), you can ask a different question "Which way isn't the way to the Tower?"

So, ask Q1. Then ask Q2 to the person you asked Q1 while pointing to the person that they didn't point to (not themselves - except for case 5) - they will point out the correct direction.

I'll post the full solution later.

[5:31 PM EDT - Look Ma! No BLOCKQUOTES!]

I've finally gotten around to removing those extraneous BLOCKQUOTE tags I've been using for indenting my text. Style Sheets all the way! (FlyingS would be so proud.) I still have some fiddling around to do so my job's not done yet, but things are looking pretty clean now..

[7:04 PM EDT - Ohh. Me achin fingers.]

Been fixing up my files to properly indent without the BLOCKQUOTE tags. I think I'm done, but I have to validate all of my pages again. Man my fingers are sore. I'm also hungry and tired. I did find a ride back to Toronto however, so that's a good thing. Now I've got to see if my changes were okay..

[7:21 PM EDT - Dang!]

I just realized that I screwed up with my overzealous removal of BLOCKQUOTE tags. I subseqently had to add in P tags which meant that all of my purple quotes have turned green! Doh! I'm in no mood to fix it right now, but I'll get around to working on it tomorrow maybe.

[8:08 PM EDT - It's fixed.]

Man, regular expressions are wonderful aren't they? Anyway, I fixed that quoting problem. Now to see if I screwed up anywhere else..

[8:46 PM EDT - Going home.]

That's it for today. Very unproductive. There's a whole slew of updates. Laz, KGL, Sparky (who seems awfully happy), and Tiffi (who seems awfully sad) are just a few.

I'm going.

[9:17 PM EDT - Oh yeah.]

I forgot to post the final solution to the Tower of Heck. Well, I know you guys will kill me, since I had originally planned to make the Hecker problem insolvable. Unfortunately, Laz was able to generate a partial solution to what became a very good problem. Anyway, seeing as you don't know which races these three Heckers belonged to, I can't think of any way you can solve it. Well, except for one thing:

Consider the size of the island of Heck. Now consider the size of the Tower of Heck.

The solution of the problem of finding the Tower of Heck: Just look.
