[7:23 PM EDT - The fan is on.]

I came home today to a high pitched whine. I thought it was my server, until I remembered that I turned off my old (loud) server and fired up the new (quiet) server. So I went to investigate, and indeed, it was the new server that was making that noise. The fan had turned on, and the machine was running a little hot. This is probably not a good sign since it was not actually doing anything.

The temperature on the thermostat has been stuck at twenty-seven degrees for the past week or so. I have kept the window open to keep the temperature down, but it is so small I am pretty sure that it is not making any difference. If I really wanted to drop the temperature of my unit, I would need to turn on the air conditioning.

I am too tired to bother.

[7:33 PM EDT - All quiet now.]

Well, I shut down the server, opened up the case, and started it up again. The fans came on for a moment, and then they all stopped, and now the machine is as quiet as the day I bought it. I do not think that this is a permanent solution, but it does indicate that my condo is a little warmer than what it likes.

[Sunday, June 17, 2007: Full of stuff to do.]

I had a couple of things scheduled for today. First there was the 50th anniversary reunion at my old elementary school, a crazy sale I wanted to go to, and I wanted to watch GWG and EK during their first day on the motorcycle course.

First thing was first, I got up early and headed to the west end to see how the two boys were doing. They had just started pushing each other around on their bikes, so I watched them go around for a bit before I took off to go to the east end for the reunion that was to start at eleven.

I actually made it on time to the school (even after filling up on gas) but when I got there, I noticed that I was the only one there in my age group. The vast majority of the returning students there were MUCH younger than me.

A number of people did eventually show up, like JK, SG, NM, and LW but I ended up leaving early so that I could make it to the sale.

I made it to the sale in good time. I was only really planning on looking for a spare helmet, and even then I did not want to spend anything (i.e. not buy anything). However, when I got there, I saw a number of people trying on suits and jackets, and other equipment so I decided to go and try some of it out. To make a long story short, I ended up picking up a new textile jacket and a mesh jacket. They were amazing deals, but with money I do not have. I was not the only one for that matter. Most of the people there ended up picking up a lot of gear, and it was mostly due to Windelynn's prodding.

After I found myself somewhat poorer, we all went our respective ways and I started heading home, until I realized that GWG and EK were probably not finished with their course yet. I decided to go back to the west end. I actually got to the lot with plenty of time to go, but I stayed until the end and the four of us went out for drinks. None of us knew of any bars around the area, and I wanted to ask someone else (like one of the cute girls) but they decided to just drive off and go looking for a bar. I indicated that there was nothing to the south, but I guess nobody was listening. They drove south.

I was just following them, and we ended up going in a large circle before settling at some hole in the wall near a bad part of town. The place was empty, but there was always a chance that one of us would have been shot. Anyway, after the drink, I headed home and had a small snack.

I was pretty tired from all of the activities during the day (mostly from riding around all over the place) so I was not very impressed when I found out that we had no substitutes on our team during hockey. The other team, on the other hand, had a full bench (two full lines).

We did play well though, and were leading through most of the game, even though we were short handed through part of it, but it was not meant to be. Perhaps if we had just one more player..
