[10:48 AM EDT - Severe thunderstorm watch.]

Along with the hot and muggy weather that suddenly rolled into the city, we have been given a severe thunderstorm watch for this afternoon. I left my bike outside, but I have little choice for sheltered parking at our new offices. This is unfortunate since even if I personally miss out on the downpour, my bike will still be hit.

Ah well, they are designed to get wet right?

[5:33 PM EDT - It was supposed to be done by now!]

I knew about the thunder shower warning for this afternoon, but the forecast had predicted that it would all be over by four. Well, the storm did not hit until five, and I am wondering if I should continue waiting it out or not?

[Saturday, June 9, 2007: Wait it out.]

Fortunately for me, the crazy weather came and went very quickly. While we (meaning GWG and I) were watching the storm approach on the satellite radar, we judged that the front was moving at about a hundred kilometers per hour. That is incredibly fast for a storm front, so we were not overly surprised when the wind suddenly picked up to gale force and bent all the trees sideways.

My bike was semi sheltered by the building and some trees in the part of the lot that I parked in, but I was still worried about damage from flying debris or any gusts that might knock it down.

When the rain finally came, it was falling horizontally. Since our offices had a view of about three quarters of the floor, we had an excellent view of the storm and the effects from the storm. The power outage also gave us plenty of time to watch, although there was not much in the way of a light show. I guess that is something to be thankful for. I would not want to be exposed on my bike in that sort of weather.

The storm broke as quickly as it came. It was still raining, but it was at a very manageable level and I had ridden in worse weather than that. I made it home without any incident. (Although traffic was pretty bad.)

When I got home, I finished watching Band of Brothers, which is an excellent series. I recognized a number of actors, but the one I was most surprised to see in a couple of episodes was Jaime Bamber with his American accent.

I also watched the Toronto filmed 'Bulletproof Monk' which was not that good, and 'Basic' which was better, but had to replay value.

During that time, I was able to get my hard drive to work in the new machine, but now my old back up machine seems to be pooched. I cannot seem to get the darn thing to POST.
