Hey, I got a post card from girl in Paris a little while ago, while Squishy sent me a postcard from Berlin! Man, all these people are traveling all over the place! I probably should get off my sorry butt and do some traveling myself huh?

I was invited to R6_Chic's birthday party today. Since I did not have any presents, I decided to use up my left over crushed walnuts, white sugar, filo pastry, and maple syrup to make some more maple baklava.
Before I started cooking, I actually did a few chores: Cleaning the kitchen (so that I could actually do some baking), getting my hockey equipment, and moving the bike. I forgot how tedious it was to make this stuff, but the final result was better than last time. Last time, I folded the extra filo pastry inwards and it pushed up the sides of the pan of pastry so that the edge pieces were very lopsided. This time I just let the extra pasty flow over and out of the pan. This did two things: First it meant that the pastry was actually level. Secondly, the syrup stayed where I poured it, and was dispersed through the cuts in the pastry that I had made before baking.
I figured that if I had a bigger pan, I had enough material to make another eight squares of baklava instead of the twelve that I ended up making. That is a lot of wasted filo pastry! I cut the excess pastry off so that all the pieces were level, and brought a triangle up to my parent's place when I picked up the bike. Oh, I also greased my chain while the baklava was baking, so I tried to maximize my productivity today.
After I picked up the bike, I threw my hockey equipment in, packed four squares of baklava, and headed up to the party (which I was already two hours late to).
I used the excuse of wanting to give everyone else a chance to eat to explain for my late arrival. Heck, the moment I appeared, they immediately ushered me towards the food, indicating that the cleaner had arrived.
I do not eat that much! Honestly!
Well, I do not plan to eat that much that is.
Except that I did pretty much skip breakfast.. and lunch.
Hmm.. So I should not have been surprised when I had four hamburgers, plus other stuff.
In any case, we had a large group of people show up. Half of the group was family, while the other half were riders. We got some good stories from everyone, and I was asked by each person who had some baklava whether or not I actually made the stuff.
Is it that hard to believe?
Heck, when R6_Chic's mom praised me for bringing the baklava, Serialize told me that I should take credit for making it. I looked at him incredulously and told him that I did make the dessert. He looked shocked. I was then told that the next time I visit their house, I would have to bring some baklava. So either I stop visiting R6_Chic, or I start making a lot of baklava..
I stuck around until the end since my hockey game was that night and their house was much closer to the arena than mine was. The timing was pretty good though, I arrived at the rink soon after people started showing up. I guess that meant that I showed up early.
The game itself was alright. I did not play all that hot, but I did not make too many mistakes. One game tying goal actually came when TT and I were chasing down the puck and I was able to force a turnover! Then I made a hail mary back handed pass to DB who made a back handed shot into the net. It was highly unlikely, but that might have been why the goalie was fooled?
Ah well, I got back home and tried to get to bed as quickly as possible as I had to get up early the next day..
