[3:45 PM EDT - Just sitting around.]

Man, you know it is too hot when you are sweating buckets just from sitting around. The strange thing is that the temperature of the unit has not changed from twenty-seven degrees and I do not even feel hot!

Strange.

Well, I should go out for a bit and then come back to finish cleaning the condo. Yup.

[6:29 PM EDT - Chain fall down.]

I went out to get some groceries. I wanted to pick up some chocolate soy (which was still on sale) and milk, but before I even left the garage, there was a problem. Normally the garage doors would open as I approached them. However, in the past couple of attempts to escape, the doors have not responded to my presence. Now I am not sure if they reduced the sensitivity of the automatic door opener, but apparently they added some buttons to the garage door so that one can manually open the doors. (I just checked.) This was apparently done so that the bikers could get out of the garage. Unfortunately, this may mean that I need to get off my bike to open the door, which I find a little annoying. The only reason I was able to get out this time (since I did not know about the manual override) was because someone had come back to the condo and triggered the door from the outside.

Now ignoring the fact that there was no chocolate soy left at the grocery store, things got a little worse on the way back. I noticed that the gate into the condo was up. This was not abnormal, but it should have gotten my attention, because when I got down to the garage door (after being waved in by another car) I noticed that the garage door was closed. Now there were two of us who wanted to get into the garage, so I was pretty sure that at least one of us would have been able to trigger the door. I sat for a couple of minutes, and I guess at that time the other car took off. Well, a third car appeared behind me and I was guessing that his card would have triggered the door.

I checked with the concierge, who had sent someone down just at that moment. Apparently, the chain on the motor came off (I saw it lying on the ground) and so there was no connection between the motor and the garage door. Now I was wondering why the heck the motor was on the outside of the garage? Would that make it a lot easier to vandalize? Mind you, it would also make it easier for maintenance, but still..

So I guess the door was broken just before I got back (and obviously after I left), which was bad timing since I was only out for fifteen minutes.
