I knew I should have listened to the traffic report this morning. Sure, I did actually listen to the report, and there was a mention of some construction along one of the roads I would be taking but I figured that it would not be that bad right? How much traffic could there be?
Well, I looked outside and noticed that it was overcast and raining. The weather report that I heard on the radio mentioned that there would be no rain, but the weather channel displayed a forecast which predicted possible thunder showers for the entire day. I decided to ride anyway. I got outside to a sunny and bright sky and kicked myself for not putting on my sunglasses. My eyes got sore from squinting so much but this is beside the point.
I arrived at the highway intersection and was confronted with a very long line of cars. Oh crap. It reminded me of waiting in line for an amusement ride, and this time the final destination certainly is not worth the wait. The time I spent in traffic more than doubled my usual commute time, so I really should have taken the alternate route instead. Ah well, lesson learned.
