[7:22 PM EDT - The trees are falling!]

We have had two severe thunder storms in as many weeks and the trees are certainly feeling the pain. The last storm on Friday had extremely high winds and caused a lot of damage from falling branches, and other wind borne objects. The effects of that storm could still be seen around the city.

We just had another storm this afternoon which was just as powerful. Trees that were damaged or weakened during the last storm had no chance against this second storm. There were more downed power lines and broken branches littered the street. The roads were clogged, and when I took a detour around the traffic jam, I drove right into the middle of a block without power. I found out why soon enough: The main power lines were knocked down by a large branch. Heck, I saw a large tree that had been uprooted and was leaning against a house.

I found it even more humorous to see a street blocked because of a fallen tree. It was funny because that street was blocked off two weeks ago because of another fallen tree.

The police were out in full force to direct traffic and maintain order, and their work could be seen from the miles of yellow tape that had been used throughout the neighborhood. There was quite a bit of work that was done already, as noted by the considerable debris that was already moved off the streets and onto the curb, but it will still be some time before full power is restored.

My area was lightly affected, from what I could see. The power outage was relatively short, but it still took down my server. I will have to get it to reboot automatically next time.

[10:24 PM EDT - Still broken.]

I brought my computer into work yesterday so that I could take a look at it, but after working on it today I am getting pretty sure that the motherboard is pooched.

If I can confirm that it cannot be fixed, what should I do with the machine? Anyone need computer parts?

I skipped dinner today. Lunch was extremely late and I have not had a very good appetite. Maybe the heat is getting to me? I finally caved in and turned on the air conditioning. Twenty-four degrees instead of twenty-seven. Three degrees does not seem like a lot, but it is.
