[Sunday, April 9, 2006: Missed flight.]

I got up a little later than usual this morning. The clock that I had in my room had lost power and the alarm and time were reset. Fortunately I didn't have to get up early, so I took my time with breakfast. I got myself checked out and headed to the airport on the airport shuttle. I was told at the check in counter that the shuttle arrives every five minutes, so I went outside to wait. After ten minutes, I found out from someone else outside that the shuttle actually came between twenty and thirty minutes apart. I had thought of taking a taxi instead, but there was a huge lineup for one, and I had already been waiting for the shuttle, so I decided to stick it out.

When the shuttle did arrive, I didn't realize that it was going to make more stops on the way to the airport. In addition to dropping my the Tropicana, it stopped at the Excalibur, the Luxor, and the Mandalay Bay. So the ten minute trip I was envisioning turned into a one hour journey, and I ended up arriving about half an hour before my flight. This is bad enough already, but when I got to the check in area, the line up was huge. A quick check revealed that there were only one or two people at the counter servicing scores of people, and each person was taking a very long time. There was some sort of flight switch going on and it ended up flooding the check in. As such, I ended up waiting over an hour and a half in line, and I had missed my flight by over an hour.

Fortunately, the guy I ended up getting was really nice. He took pity on me and got me a direct flight back home. The only issue was that I had to walk to the other terminal. I had no problem with that. I had been walking all week anyway.

The flight was very full, but there were still a few empty seats on the plane. I spent most of my time trying to sleep and looking out the window.

They showed 'Tristan & Isolde' which was.. okay I guess.

The flight itself was fairly uneventful although there was a lot of turbulence in the midwest.

I had some trouble getting my stuff after landing since the box holding the projection screen had broken, but it fit in my car, so I was happy with that. The voyage home was pretty straightforward.
