[Sunday, April 9, 2006: First day in.]

I was woken up by the chirping of birds this morning. Being jet lagged also was a factor in my ability to get up early as well.

The room has no air conditioning, and has no ventilation control whatsoever if you exclude the (weak) bathroom fan and the patio door. It was one of the original rooms when the Tropicana was first built, and so the amenities were limited.

I got a call from KM and we went for breakfast. Afterwards, we picked up our equipment and headed to Mandalay Bay to get registered and to set up our booth.

We had some time after putting up the equipment to do some exploring, but I spent my time hunting for post cards, looking for stamps (and getting seriously ripped off) and filling them all out so that by the time I was done, it was time to head down to the hall for the gala opening.

I had expected some sort of dinner venue, but what actually happened was that we were actually presenting our software! I was completely unprepared and didn't bring my laptop down. We were fortunate that we didn't need my computer there for any presentations.

There was food available. We had to line up to get at it, but there was sushi, and noodles, and other Asian cuisine. The food was pretty good, and I would've enjoyed it more if I had time to sit down and savor the meal, but most of our time was spent at the booth promoting the product and meeting people.

We weren't done until late that night and I was so tired that I went straight to my room to crash.
