[9:32 AM EST - I can see, but I can't open.]

Argh! I didn't test some of my scripts before going to bed last night. I won't be able to connect remotely today, which means that I won't be able to get my mail working today, and I won't be able to find out what other things I need to have fixed.

Yeah, so I've lost my inbox and any mail that was stuck in limbo. That kind of sucks, but it serves me right for not moving the messages into a folder that I actually back up.

Anyway, I should get back to work.

[9:33 AM EST - Hold on a sec..]

I didn't properly clobber the ports! I guess I can work on the mail problem then..

[10:10 AM EST - Kernel problems.]

Geez, I knew I shouldn't have tried to update the kernel. There seem to be some issues with the kernel, so I'm going to have to sit on some of these fixes for a bit..

[12:17 PM EST - Chain Links: Cool Juggler.]

I found a video for some crazy juggling (which I think may be faked) which I found on MasterStorm's site.

[12:24 PM EST - Pretty much healthy.]

I'm pretty much back to full health now, although I still get a few coughing fits now and then. I'm wondering if this sickness I got is the same that's going around. Squishy got sick like me, and Growly got sick too. theMediaman and MasterStorm were not immune either.

In hindsight, I probably should have stayed home when I didn't feel well, but I thought that I was okay, until I got to work, and it just got really bad. Fortunately nobody else at work got sick, or fingers would've pointed at me..

Then again, if I did stay at home, I probably wouldn't have come back for a couple of weeks..

[12:55 PM EST - Fire came by.]

We were having the fire alarms in our suites tested this week and I was expecting mine to be checked near the end (since I was near the top of the building). I was surprised to see a note on the counter last night indicating that the fire crew came by during the day. I wouldn't even have noticed anything had it not been for the fact that I had cleared out that part of the counter in the morning.

[2:16 PM EST - Sending a message.]

Yay! I got the e-mail sending to work now. Apparently the website I linked had a typo in one of the files. I copied that typo and wasn't able to connect until I corrected the mistake. I must have written up about it last year but I didn't mention anything about a typo. I've since moved the information into the setup file itself so I'll remember the next time I have to do this again.

[2:18 PM EST - Backing up is good.]

I'm pretty glad I was fairly encompassing with my backup strategy. I copied most of the configuration files that I would need to my backup folder and copied the information to another machine. It's not complete, but holds enough information to let me reconfigure a new system to match my last one. Well, most of it. I got lazy and didn't copy a bunch of files so I'm going to be a bit more diligent this time and have all of the files copied, and in addition, have them backed up with a script. Or at least that's the plan.

[5:27 PM EST - PHP 6 has changes.]

I was looking up some stuff for safe_mode in PHP 5 and noticed that there was a note in the manual that mentioned that safe_mode was being dropped from PHP 6. I decided to look up PHP 6 and see what other changes there were. The big three drops that were mentioned was getting rid of register_globals, magic_quotes, and safe_mode.

I don't actually use the first, but the other two are on, sort of. If I want to upgrade to PHP 6, I'll need to make sure that the site works with these flags off!

[Wednesday, March 29, 2006: No shopping tonight.]

My normal routine for Tuesday nights is to go to play broomball and then afterward fill up on gas and do some grocery shopping. Since my tank was more than half full and I'll be away all of next week, I didn't think there was any need for me to do either and went straight home.

Broomball was okay. I missed out on the past two weeks because of my sickness and the meeting, so it was good to stretch my legs again.

I spent the rest of the night finishing off 'UHF' which GWG had lent to me. It's a classic cheesy 80's movie.
