[Thursday, November 9, 2000: All Saints Day.]

We had some trouble sleeping when the air conditioner started making noises. There must've been a leak of some sort in the room above us, because something was dripping onto the air conditioner (which was in the wall) and it drove us bonkers. This went on for more than an hour, but I was more-or-less awake when it first started and it sounded as if something was spilled because it started off really loud, and then petered out slowly.

We only had one game that took place in the morning against Cincinnati. We blew them out of the water by a margin of 9-0. I ended up breaking my stick during the middle of the game, and while I was hanging on to what was left of my broom, I could hear my teammates on the bench telling me to drop the broom. It took me a minute for the shock to pass (I've had that broom for years) before dropping the stick and heading to the bench. They told me, after I had gone off, that holding onto (or throwing) a broken stick was considered a penalty. I didn't know that!

Fortunately, I was able to bump into Mr. Broomball after the game and borrow a stick off of him. The style was different, and the head was made of hard plastic (instead of rubber), but the weight was good, and the taping was fine.

We headed back to the hotel where my roommates napped (again) while I continued reading my book. Our team went out to a Greek restaurant (Millo's) for dinner. The food was good and the prices were reasonable. On the way back, DK told me a story (in addition to her drinking stories from the night before) about some $15 000 hat that was on display at some fancy store. There was a sign next to the hat that read "Do not touch" and she was standing next to it wearing the hat on her head, asking one of her friends (who was staring slack jawed) how it looked. I think she was actually sober when she did that.

It's too bad I missed out on her antics. What a story I could've written!
