[Monday, October 22, 2000: The big day!]

Today is the wedding day. I won't say all too much about the wedding itself since it'll be well documented by other website(s). I'll just throw up some points in the day that people would probably not talk about or that interested me.

Since I had to wake up early the next day, I set the clock alarm to ring at eight.

Anyway, we headed out to the curch early since Laz had to be there early. Boy were we early, there was like.. nobody there when we got there! Even the minister wasn't there until several minutes after we had arrived. Anyway, things went witout a hitch, except when SC arrived. We had met a number of times before, and she also knew Werdna from the number of parties that we've attended. She looked at me and said "Hello." Then she turned around to Werdna and said,

"Hi [QYV]!"

I tried, I tried really hard to keep it in, but I just burst out laughing. I should've went along with it, but it was really funny to me. That's when she realized her mistake, looked at Werdna and said,

"Oh, you're a2chow."

Dang, do we look that similar or something?

The ceremony itself was a tear jerker for the wedding party (execept for Laz). Even Growly had a couple of drops welling up from his eyes. Aww. After the wedding, I was issued the keys to the van (and was the designated driver since I was not going to drink) and we helped move some stuff from the church to the restaurant where the reception was to be held. The cake looked fantastic, but there wasn't much for us to do, so a bunch of us (Werdna, theMediaman, Stacey, and I) went off to Fairview mall, in our dressy attire, and wandered around a bit. We headed back early to see if there was anything we could help with. Not much it seemed, but I was able to finally fill out the gift card before tucking it in with my gift. Whew! *wipes brow*

Uhh.. the reception. That would take me too long to talk about, and there's already a site devoted to it. Besides, Laz probably has some words of his own on the whole affair, but I'll throw in a couple of teasers: Diving for the garter, and "Now and Forever". I also did my normal female watch, but didn't notice anyone of note.

Laz and theMediaman were a little drunk after the reception. Driving back was interesting with Laz being the (very loud) backseat driver. They started shouting about this and that, like "Party!", or "You're a cool cat!". By the time I realized that I was shouting along with them, I hollered,

"Why am I shouting? I'm not drunk!"

Really I wasn't!

After we had gotten back to the hotel, I noticed that my towel had been taken. I had brought along my white bath towel just incase we ran out of towels. Unfortunately, the hotel aslo used plain white towels, and although the texture, size, and lack of stripe diferrentiated my towel from the others, it was taken. Piece of..

I called in the front desk to complain, and was told that it wouldn't be looked at until the next morning. No problem, as long as I got my towel back. I set the alarm clock later by an hour (since I found out that we didn't have to leave until later than I thought), went to bed, and fell right to sleep.

[Monday, November 6, 2000: Update.]

After reading Laz's recounting of the wedding (and the following reception), I had forgotten that he was somewhat drunk near the end of the event. However, not too much happened during that period, so I'll just fill in a couple of (more personal) things that he didn't mention. First of all, Growly and SJ had people pop balloons instead of clinking glassware to get them to kissEach of the balloons had a piece of paper which said that the bride and groom must kiss, or it had a task that the balloon popper had to do. It was a good idea, except that half of the balloons were transparent, and you were able to read some of them. (*checks balloon* Hmm.. sing the first verse of a love song? Uh.. no. *goes to next balloon*)

About a minute after the balloon popping method was introduced, I went up and popped one of the balloons. Being a pioneer has it's advantages. I had no idea what I was doing, and since the balloon popped near the wedding cake (which was white, as were the pieces of paper inside the balloon), I lost my balloon task. Undaunted, I decided to (after consultation with Dangerman and RC, I folded up a sheet of paper, went up to the mike, and said that the newlyweds had to kiss.

Growly didn't believe me, so RC took a look at the paper and confirmed that the bride and groom had to kiss. Growly (begrudgingly) complied, and RC gave him the piece of paper as I headed back to my seat. When he discovered the trickery, he shook his fist (I think) and vowed to personally confirm the legitimacy of each message from then on.

The piece of paper from my balloon resurfaced after the cake was cut. Someone had found it in in their piece of cake. The task was to recite a poem (that was on the sheet of paper) so I did. (Might as well, since I already did get them to kiss.)

That's the only interesting part that Laz didn't mention. BTW, didn't the Beach Boys sing "Surfin' USA"? (While "Now and Forever" was sung by Richard Marx.)
