[12:00 AM EDT - Back to standard time.]

How are you folks doing? Did you remember to turn your clocks back one hour to return to standard time? (This only applies to daylight savings time people of course.) We get to relive 2-3am twice! Yay! An extra hour of sleep!

Speaking of sleep (or getting a lack thereof) KGL's got an update, as does Laz.

I'm not sure why my connection is sucking so late at night, but being the weekend, I can imagine tens of thousands of teenagers cloggin up the wires with MP3s and Counter-Strike activity. Ugh. Oh yeah, what do you guys think of the style thing? Should I dump it? I'm still trying to figure a good way to allow users to personally define a style, and then save it into a cookie or something. Well, I guess you can't save the style file into a cookie (it's too small) but I think I can come up with a way to get around that.. In any case, I need sleep and I need a haircut. Sleep has priority methinks.

[12:17 AM EDT - Not asleep yet.]

Okay, so I'm not in bed yet, but I just got an interesting pig story from the ShackNews. (Yes, I've already thought of the obvious joke as well.) There's also this article about the rise of spam in the past few months. Ick, I seem to be suffering though this first hand as well.

[9:42 AM EST - An extra hour.]

Geez, I guess it takes an extra hour for me to look like I got up semi-early. I don't think I'll be able to make it to Ultimate unfortunately, But hopefully I'll be able to catch my plane at least! I forgot about the baggage limit for planes and I'm wondering how I'll carry my equipment with the rest of my stuff. Geez, I really shouldn't bring so much stuff..

[2:47 PM EST - Just a bit off the top.]

I've gotten my hair cut. Hopefully this will also help reduce the amount of sweat that collects up there whenever I play broomball, except that with the number of people playing, I doubt I'll be on the ice all that often. Oh yeah, the games themselves are thirty minutes long divided into two fifteen minute halves. This isn't really that much playing time, even though they are playing with stopped time.

Eh, we'll see how it goes. I still have to finish packing. I'm mostly done. I'm just a little worried about bringing my stick onto the plane. I checked the Air Canada luggage page, and it says that I can replace one of my free allowance bags with two taped hockey sticks. Unfortunately, I already have used up the two free baggages, and I still have this stick to tote around. I could probably borrow one while I'm down there, but I'm used to this stick. *scratches head*

Then again.. *rereads the page* I might be able to throw it in as checked baggage.. Eh. I'll find out when I get there.

One thing that caught my eye was this paragraph:

Please note that some seemingly harmless goods can be dangerous on board an aircraft and should not be packed in either checked or carry-on baggage. They are: lighters, matches, flammable or corrosive materials, compressed gases, poisons, radioactive material and infectious substances.

Err.. radioactive material and infectious substances are "seemingly harmless"?

While I'm on the other side of the continent, I won't have much access to games, or computer related news, so stuff like Sega partnering with Nintendo and No One Lives Forever not sucking I won't hear about until next week. (Hoth are ShackNews news things.) How unfortunate. I might want to check out NOLF actually..

[4:09 PM EST - Giddy.]

I should be cleaning up now. Double checking everything is a good idea as well. Oh boy, this might be the last entry in here for a long while. Oh well, time for me to sign off.

[Monday, November 6, 2000: Heading west.]

There were a couple of things that I forgot to mention. First of all, while I was getting my hair cut, the barber (who was a woman) asked me if I dyed my hair. I told her that I didn't, and she told me that I hair had a reddish tinge. Hmm, I always thought my hair was dark brown rather than black. Also, she asked me,

"When will you graduate from high school?"

Uhh.. I only told her that I had graduated from university. I couldn't bring myself to tell her that I also got my Masters.

Anyway, my dad drove me to the airport. On the way there, I marveled at the amount of construction that was going on there. I had just saw a news report on the construction of the new terminal just a couple of days before (they had said that the roof was being completed first so that construction could continue throughout winter), but I didn't realize how large the new terminal was going to be. After being dropped off, I saw a poster displaying the proposed improvements, and.. boy is it big.

I had gotten to the airport fairly early, and had a couple of hours to burn. I spent some time in the magazine store and checked out some of the magazines I haven't looked at in years. The current Popular Mechanics featured an article about the US Army's attempts at producing a nuclear powered flying saucer. Cool beans. It also goes on to state that it may well explain most of the UFO sightings in the past few decades..

I also knew that Mr. Broomball was going to be getting on a plane (to Vancouver) around fifteen minutes before I was scheduled to take off, so I hung around the gate for the Vancouver flight for a while. During my second pass through the waiting area, I heard,

"Hey [QYV]!"

It wasn't Mr. Broomball. It was ButtChunk! Holy crap! I talked with him and whats-her-face for a while before they went to board the plane. Seems like he'll be back in town for Christmas, so I should organize some sort of skating thing at thta time.. *rubs chin*

Oh yeah, he's also working on the sequal to Homeworld (seeing as he's working for Relic) so I'd like to see what it's going to look like! (It should be out by fall 2002.)

As I was heading away from the gate, I bumped into Mr. Broomball (and whats-her-face 2). I was a little surprised to see him (seeing as I didn't see him earlier). Anyway, he (as well as André) commented about my attire.

Uhh.. I probably should've mentioned this earlier, but I walked into the airport with broomball stick in one hand, luggage in the other, with my jean jacket, and ripped jeans. How the hell I got my stick past security (as carry-on) I don't know. Maybemy jeans made me look harmless?

Anyway, I didn't talk to Mr. Broomball for long, he had a plane to catch, as did I. The plane left a little late, and I sat next to this old couple who was visiting their son for the weekend. She asked me,

"Is that a broomball stick?"

I was surprised that she knew, but apparently, they were standing behind me in the check-in line and she had asked her son what that thing was I was holding (and swinging around wildly - I do that habitually). I didn't talk to her much, she slept through the entire flight.

"Bruno" was the movie being shown, but it didn't interest me. What did surprise me was after the movie had ended, I looked up and saw the beginning of.. "George Lucas in Love"! Holy crap! I grabbed my headphones and switched to channel one (the English movie channel). Sure enough, they showed that short clip in it's entirety. I was impressed.

I made it to Victoria without incident, and the Edmonton coach was able to pick me out of the crowd while I was waiting for my baggage to arrive. (I think the broomball stick tipped him off.) The ride to the hotel was uneventful, and I headed straight to bed.
