[1:35 AM EDT - Wipes.]

While I was surfing for pr0.. er.. artistic photographs, I came across a nifty META tag. I'm not sure if it works though. Also, it can be somewhat annoying. I'll probably take it down soon, I just want to play around with it a bit (that would be the wipe if you can see it). Apparently, I've been told by KGL that it doesn't work in Netscape. This probably means I'll be taking it down.

Oh yeah, KGL's got another update up. This time venting a little bit about Needless Hell. Err.. I mean co-op.

[10:48 AM EDT - Out to lunch.]

I should be heading out to lunch soon. Hopefully I'll have something up for later this afternoon before I head off to Montreal, but don't hold your breath!

[Monday, October 22, 2000: A lunch date.]

I went downtown to have lunch, and as I was channel surfing on my way to Warden station, I caught what I recognized was the Homeworld theme. After the song had ended, The announcer was said that the name for this version of the song (the one with all of the voices) was known as the choir version of "Adagio for Strings". However, this part was also known as "Lamb of God". So MJO and Growly are both correct (although MJO is probably more informative).

Lunch was good. I don't think I have to go into details since.. well, I just don't have much to add. There is, however, one point I would like to expand on during "Smooth Move #3". We had agreed to leave the city after lunch. Unfortunately, we didn't come up with any specific time to leave (after lunch can be somewhat vague), so I figured I had enough time to head downtown for a nice little meal before heading out.

When I called my cousin (who I was going to visit in UT) he told me that girl had called and said that Laz had called my place to tell me that we were leaving soon. Soon huh? Okay, after borrowing a quarter, I called home and talked to my mom who promptly told me that Laz told her that he was planning to leave for Montreal at one. I looked at my watch. It read 1:07. Oh goody. Borrowing another quarter, I called up Laz to see what was going on (I wasn't all too worried about being left behind) and fortunately enough, he was still home. I told him that I should be able to make it back to my house around two, and I headed back home. (I made it back around half past. Half past two.)

Okay, we ended up leaving the city around four, but we made good time on the highway since there was no traffic of note. We did notice the large trailer truck convoy that was protesting the high diesel prices going the other way, but that was about it. The rest of the trip was pretty bland, filled in every now and then with a few rounds of the word game. We only stopped once; to get gas near the border so we woudln't have to pay the ridiculous fuel prices in la belle provence. (It was a bit over 71 cents a liter on this side of the border, and nearly 86 cents on the other side.)

It took us a while to find the hotel. Having shops, and buildings on highways are annoying, especially if getting to the proper side required following a lot of hard-to-read signs (it was dark by then). It took us a while to make it to the hotel (after wandering around a little while). I've said this before, and I'll say this again: The roads in Montreal suck.

Anyway, after we had finally found the hotel that we were looking for, things went fairly smoothly. I made my (85 cent) phone call and Werdna phoned up one of his friends, who subsiquently showed up and drove us out to dinner at some Chinese restaurant nearby. The food was pretty good, but I was itching to hook up Laz's Dreamcast to our (30"?) TV.

It was easy to set up, but after turning on the console, we couldn't seem to find the right channel. Hmm. There was much cable switching, button pressing, and channel flipping, but after half-an-hour of this nonsense, we still couldn't get the thing to work. A discrete call to the front desk (asking how we could hook up a VCR) didn't help. They told us that it could not be done. We gave up eventually and we watched some TV for a while.

The television system that they use as the Holiday Inn already had a playstation pay-to-play thing attached. There was also pay-to-watch movies and the like, but we (being the cheapskates we are) didn't want any of that crap. We wanted our Dreamcast! It was Werdna who noticed the odd looking power box that the TV was hooked to and decided to unplug the TV from it and stick it directly into the wall socket. Just like that, everything worked. Yahoo!

We played for a number of hours before heading to bed. Much happier than before, until I realized that I didn't bring any pants or shorts for bed. Doh! It was alright though, it wasn't like I was walking around in public without pants.
