Today we headed back to Hong Kong. The plan was to visit yet another relative living in the area before hopping on the boat and going back to the big city.
That's basically what we did, but the most important part of the day was that it was sunny. Warm and sunny. On the last day that we were there, the weather decided to cooperate with us. Doh.
We got back to Hong Kong after dark and basically went out to dinner and vegged for the rest of the night. I ended up watching some sort of show about a mixed Chinese family who had lived in Canada and moved to Bejing. What was so interesting was that their last names were the same as mine, except that they spelled it differently in English! In fact, it was pronounced differently too! I think it's because they used the Mandarin pronounciation as opposed to the Cantonese pronounciation which led to the difference. I found that quite bizarre. (Since I don't see too many people around with the same last name as I.)
Finally, before I go. I'd like to mention that the people in China were so.. casual when it comes to commuting. There's very little aggressive honking, and pedestrians cross the streets with a leasurly gait. No running, no speeding, and very little stopping. It's so.. weird! You wonder how people don't end up getting killed in massive pedestrian/bike/van pileups.
Oh yeah, apparently the emergency number down there is 119.
