[Wednesday, November 27, 2002: Arrival in Hong Kong.]

Saw another movie on the plane which had Chris Rock and Anthony Hopkins in it. *looks up names* Ah ha! It's called 'Bad Company' and it wasn't a particularly good movie either.

I noticed that they offered some oriental foods: Instant noodles and congee, but why did we get silverware but only got plastic knives? I mean, metal forks are dangerous too, and metal spoons? Heck, have you ever had your heart cut out with a spoon?

The main reason I chose The Chocolate War to read was because I saw that one of the characters had the name "The Goober" I didn't know that somone was already called Goober! *shakes fist*

I finished off Who do You Think You Are? before we got off the plane.

The new Hong Kong international airport is huge. I mean, it's HUGE. I didn't take any pictures unfortunately, but.. it's HUGE.

When we went to pick up our baggage from the baggage claim, my dad told me to look for any bags that had this rainbow strap wrapped around it. (So when I went, I noticed that there were a number of bags (most of them not ours) which had these exact same rainbow straps attached to them! Dear lord! If only people thought more differently.

On the trip from Vancouver to Hong Kong, there was this little girl who sat a few seats next to me and kept looking at me while I was reading. At the airport, we ended up behind them in line for land transport. When she looked around, she pointed at me and said "It's you!". I just sort of left it at that.

There was an emergency exit in the middle of the bus that we got on to enter the city. It seemed so.. out of place since the windows were breakable. *shrugs* During the drive into the city, the driver got a cell phone call. While he was talking on the phone, the bus swerved dangerously for a few minutes until he hung up. *wipes brow*

There were so many buildings being constructed in the area. All of these new highrises were going up everywhere! It was nuts. The funnyiest thing was that they looked the same. Each building was part of a set of six to twelve also identical buildings, like some sort of Lego city.

The first thing I noticed when I got in was the smell. It wasn't that bad. Mind you, at the place where my grandparents were staying, it was further away from the city core, and it was also new (around two years old). You wouldn't have guessed that if you looked at it though (it looked ten years old to me from the grunge).

Their schools are huge! They have two primary schools just one block away from each other and they're both six floors high and huge. There's also a six floor middle school, which I originally mistook as an apartment building. Good lord, I wonder how they can handle so many kids packed into such a small area?
