[10:37 AM EDT - Friday.. finally!]

This has been a long week for many, with a longer weekend for those still searching for loved ones. At noon today, there will be a moment of silence for those lives lost on Tuesday. Two minutes of silence for those civilians who never knew what terror awaited them. Hey, I forgot to mention that Tuesday was also the last day of the Air Canada seat sale, but I think I had other things on my mind that day.

Laz and Growly were talking about Sky Marshals and gadgets that might prevent such an event from occuring again, and I found a ZDNet editorial with those same thoughts. One thing that this gadget doesn't prevent are the standard "hijacking and holding the passengers hostage" deal, or any bomb threats. At least it would limit the ability to use these planes as human bombs. Unwilling human bombs at that.

Let's see, what else. Oh yeah, there may be roller hockey this Saturday, and DWC's got a gig on the 22nd! There's still CK's housewarming party on the 29th. Hey.. that's every weekend in September booked up! I guess there are Sundays, but the fall Ultimate season starts soon..

Uhh.. that's it for now I think. All the other stuff I wanted to say fell out of my head. That and I've got to get back to work..

Sky Marshalls or no, I don't see how this would ever happen again. Not on a plane full of American passengers, anyway.

Will it happen again? I think there's always that possiblity, but not in the near future. The burning towers are so ingrained into the population's psyche that any hijacking attempt will become nearly impossible to execute. The hostages will rise against their agressors so that they cannot be used as weapons in a war of terror.

"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few (or the one)."

With regard to roller hockey. This group that I play for don't actually play in parking lots (as a group). I do play with another (smaller) group who do play in vacant lots, but most of their time bas been spent relaxing and playing golf.
