I have yet to decide whether or not I'll be going to the CTRL-A show today and/or tomorrow. Dang nabbit! I do have a question for anyone who might know. Is there an easy way to determine the time zone of a machine by it's IP address? Inquiring mind wants to know.
Oh yeah, Laz has a little dream that he's posted as well as some pictures of his new cell phone (everyone's got one!). Jax also has an update up (or two actually).

I'm pretty you can't tell where an IP comes from, just by looking at it.
However, you can gain some clues by using tracert.
If you're really curious about IPs, you can try NeoTrace, which uses a database of server IPs (via whois and tracert) to figure out approximately where an IP is geographically coming from.
Which all begs the question.. why do you want to know??

Knowing people's locations from their IP will tell me which time zone they're in so that I can tailor the times to their zones (which is one reason why I stuck to UTC). Switching from EST to EDT all the time would be annoying (although I do that with my time stamps..) Hmm, wait till I make it to Victoria! (Hopefully I'll have internet access there..)
