[12:41 PM EDT - Schedule Sun Tan.]

I finished reading "The Puppet Masters". Quite a good read, and a lot less disturbing than Cataclysm. My next book will be "The Shockwave Rider" which I started years ago but never finished. (That and "Shogun".) In any case, I can see now why they didn't use Schedule Bare Back (or especially Schedule Sun Tan) in the movie, although it would've been.. interesting. *wiggles eyebrows*

Heinlein also used some Latin which I'd never come across (like Spurlos Versenkt and Tertium Quid) and some interesting quotes:

"We impress what we expect to see on what we do see."

and

"Luck is a tag given by the mediocre to account for the accomplishments of a genius."

But enough with that, I'm going to see what's going on in the world..

[2:03 PM EDT - One gripe.]

There was only one thing that really annoyed me in "The Puppet Masters". That being that Mary started off as a fairly strong willed, headstrong woman at the beginning of the book, and turned more-or-less into a pile of mush near the end. (At least it seemed like she did.)

Speaking of strong willed women (and men) what kind of personality would you like to spend the rest of your life with?

Speaking of the rest of your life, as a certain FlyingS puts it in his most recent entry,

Life Without Internet Access Isn't Worth Living, Really.

Amen.

[5:00 PM EDT - News Bytes: Comment change.]

I made a tiny change to the comment form. Hopefully it still works.

On the news front, this story about an air rager is a little disturbing (found at the ShackNews). Also, although late, I figure I might as well put up that link to the glowing rabbits (from the same technique that brought you the glowing mouse last year). I'm gonna wait until they start working on cats..

Finally, a really old piece of news, I'm going to keep this link handy until I find myself half a million dollars.

[6:52 PM EDT - Another comment change.]

I've finally put up the new comment thing for the 'Mech designs. Boy, that took a long time and it's still not finished! I have an idea of how to generalize this script now, and it would use the same technique as Matt Wright's Guestbook script. Maybe I should work on that now..

[11:00 PM EDT - Wawkay.]

I did some searching, and I might be able to get my hands on the first 26 episodes of Kare Kano! *rubs hands in anticipation* I know of at least one (newly converted) person who'd be willing to watch.. *hums "Yume No Naka E"*

I'm feeling much better now, and I've gone through the first third of "The Shockwave Rider". It's keeping my interest (much more than when I first started reading it) and the similarities with "The Pretender" are pretty obvious. It can be a little difficult to read at times as Brunner tends to convolute some of his paragraphs, and some of the references I probably wouldn't have understood when I first read it (I was in grade eight or something). We'll see how the last third of the book pans out.

You know, with all this free time on my hands, it sort of reminds me of summer vacation. I remember reading lots of books during those breaks and I haven't had a real chance to go through my (neglected) collection like this before. (The only books I've read have been "given" to me.)

I think I'll read the second third tonight and finish the book tomorrow.
