[10:20 AM EDT - Dave and Buster's.]

We went out to a place called Dave and Buster's for dinner last night. I had never heard of the place before, and this branch in Toronto (At Hwy's 400 and 7) just opened a few months ago.

We were supposed to meet there at seven-thirty for dinner, but we were a little delayed and didn't get there until half-past-eight. The place was huge! When we got to the entrance, a couple of well dressed security guard types (with the headphones and everything) greeted us at the door and checked to see if we needed help. girl told him that we were looking for some friends, so he grabbed something, gave it to us and said:

"Here's a map."

Yoiks! We hurried on in and quickly didn't know where we were going. Fortunately, in this day in age, nearly everyone has a cell phone, and we were able to contact the other party.

"We're in the arcade!"

We found the group we were hooking up with, and found out that we still had to wait an hour for a table (that's two hours!). The arcade was no Playdium, but it was still quite impressive (and around that caliber). Oh, I should explain. The best way to describe this place, is that it's a Chuck E. Cheese for adults. It was a Playdium type arcade attached to a fairly classy restaurant with a large bar and pool hall (with some shuffleboard thrown in for kicks). The arcade even had a lot of games which dispensed tickets which you could reimburse for prizes at the prize counter (just like at Chuck's). The prizes, however, were not limited to little trinkets (although there were plenty of them). They had cordless phones on display, remote controlled cars, boats, and other stuff us adults wouldn't mind playing around with. Mind you, each costed around 10 000 tickets, and at an average of 7 tickets per token (which is around 25 to 50 cents each), it's not a worthwhile investment (I didn't spend any money myself). However, they do have jackpots (if you can get them) from between 100 to 500 tickets! Crazy..

Oh yeah, the most surprising thing to me was that in one corner of the arcade, they had a BattleTech simulator. Holy crap! I didn't partake in the simulator, but it looked a little dead at that time so I decided not to stick around.

Eventually, after much money spending, and ticket winning, we were called to our table (they gave out one of these square pager things to us that blinked and vibrated when out table was ready so we were informed even if we couldn't hear the PA).

The selection of food was average, but the quality was pretty good. Prices were on the mid to high level, but as we were waiting, this guy (out of nowhere) approached our table and started talking with us. It took a number of minutes (and a few jokes) before he said that he was a magician. He preformed quite a number of tricks (and more jokes) before our drinks arrived and he left to terrorize another table.

The food was very good, and although we did finish around eleven, there were even MORE people in the building. The arcade, by this time, was teeming with people. The kids who dotted the floor before were gone, and replaced with teens and young adults. It was definitely a happening place.

We left soon after, but it was an interesting place, and a hot spot for birthday parties. There were seven birthday presentations in our room alone (for the hour-and-a-half that we were eating there)! Considering that there were only twenty odd tables in our section, that's a pretty big fraction of the population.

Anyway, it's time for me to check up on the world today..

[10:56 AM EDT - Fog.]

Holy fog Batman! We were planning to go downtown today, but..

Anyway, the usual suspects (Laz and KGL) both have updates up, while Tiffi has a new picture up.

Oh yeah, Shadows of Amn should be coming out soon.. *rubs hands in anticipation*

[1:58 PM EDT - Bank.]

I should remind myself to go to the bank today. I've got some stuff to get. Anyway, with the solution of the series questions I posted yesterday basically up, I'm going to post another question from that Omni article:

NEXT, PLEASE

Elizabeth D. Fetterly of Jonesboro, Arkansas, wants to know what is the next word in the following series: aid, nature, world, estate, column, sense, ... a) water, b) music, c) welcome, d) heaven.

I wasn't able to solve this one.

[5:06 PM EDT - Night Watch.]

I should be going to a house warming party soon, but I have time for a quick update. First of all, I forgot to mention that last night, I found out that my watch was broken. As we were heading to Dave and Buster's, I looked at my watched and noted that we had plenty of time (the watch read 6:10) to make it to the restaurant cum arcade, and wondered why girl was a little worried about being late. Halfway to D&B's, I checked my watch again, and thought, "Geez, we've got so much time, why don't I just take it easy?" (It still read 6:10). That's when I realized.. waitaminute..

*looks at clock on car stereo*

*looks back at watch*

*shakes watch*

*hears rattling noise*

*groans*

I guess I'll be watchless for the next little while..

Oh yeah, I just got word about broomball in Toronto. There is none. The Port Perry league has folded, so both of my possible broomball avenues are now closed. Sucky. What to do..
