[2:43 PM EDT - Flaky.]

Dang, my connection to uwaterloo.ca is pretty bad. I'm being dropped more often than not and making updates during the day are pretty darned tedious.

[3:17 PM EDT - Curses!]

Argh! It did it again! This is really annoying. I really should get his page off of Scienide and onto a local machine soon. Anyway, I've been playing around with static IPs for the LAN and things seem to be progressing slowly. There's more to talk about I guess, like AgentP's voyage into Sweden (which he really should start up some sort of web journal of sorts) and my ongoing attempts to get this blasted LAN to function, and my ever belated attempts to clean up my room. Oh yeah, does anyone know how to get Microsoft Netmeeting to live happily with my router? (i.e. Does anyone know which port it accesses?)

Okay, I'm going to cut this short before I get cut off. Hopefully the connection will be more stable later in the day..

[3:26 PM EDT - Quick updates.]

Seeing how unpredictable these connections are, I'll keep this short. Two updates I've noticed. A couple of terse ones from Jax, and another short story made shorter from Tiffi.

Is everyone a little depressed, or is it just me? *checks* Whoops, I guess I'm not depressed..

[3:32 PM EDT - Oh yeah.]

Changing the ethernet cable didn't help with my 100Mb connection at all. I was still losing packets for some reason.

<- all confused.

Actually, my old ethernet card which I stuck into the Linux box seems to be having some problems too, although it got better recently.. it's all so confusing.

Oh yeah, as always, I'm going to keep my eye on the names of commenters. I wouldn't want people to sign any comments with someone else's name now <cough>weirDo</cough> would I? (Although I did fix the ambulance spelling.)

[3:48 PM EDT - Cray fishing?]

JCC sent this link to us. There's about a day left to bid on it. Anyone with a US address who'd like to pick this badboy up?

[6:04 PM EDT - It's not easy..]

Setting up this darned (which means damned) web server is taking up much more time and patience than I thought it would (and I thought it would take a while already). Guh. I'm going to take a break. I can't seem to figure out what's wrong with it ATM. Maybe I should get around to responding to some comments?

[8:31 PM EDT - Ah, the night..]

Night has fallen and my internet connection seems much more stable now. I guess daytime traffic with all those business users <cough>pr0n</cough> is to blame. In any case, there are some interesting news bits that I've found. One is about Amazon's different pricing lists, and another about some sort of "Aura sniffer". Both of these I first saw at ArsTechnica. There were also some news bits from the ShackNews. One had to do with something that I don't have to worry about: Kmart will start carding buyers of computer games. The other is about American Express coming up with a disposable credit card. Funky.

Oh yeah, also from the ShackNews, for those of you who've actually been watching "Big Brother", this article should be interesting. Further, this article about AOL "stealing" domain names has me a little worried about the security of owning a domain name. (Although the name that I would choose is unlikely to piss anyone off..)
