[Sunday, July 30, 2000: Bachelor party.]

Well, there's not much to say about the bachelor party. It was fairly (very) tame. The schedule was to have lunch at Hooters, play a couple hours of basketball, shower, eat dinner at Leoni's, go to Playdium for a few hours, and then head back to DeeL's place for some all night gaming (specifically, Diablo 2 multiplayer gaming).

I showed up late at Hooters ("I shouldn't have gotten that haircut."), as I got myself a haircut (finally!) and had lunch already. I didn't miss much. None of the waitresses interested me.. except for that short one, and I only knew a few people (of the fifteen or so people) from the group. A couple minutes after I arrived, Stonaday arrived and we chatted it up for a bit (seeing as he was one of the few people there that I knew).

So, as they were going to play basketball, I skipped out and went with Stonaday to check out his new digs. Pretty nice! *nods approvingly* It's located in a very good spot downtown and has a fairly decent view. We didn't stay there very long as there wasn't much to do. Stonaday suggested that we go and watch a movie (cheap) to pass the time. I figured, why not?

Taking a look at the list of movies at the Eaton Centre, I noticed that most of them were a few months old (which would explain the cheap cost of admission). Stonaday picked 'Boys and Girls'. *blink* Okay. I had no idea what the movie was about (I hadn't heard of it before) so we headed in (after playing a bit of that.. er.. ring bobble? Circle pong? Dang.. that game that Laz played in Calgary).

The movie theatre was small. Very small. In fact, it was somewhat claustrophobic. A nice, bedroom sized area with seating for about forty people. I had not seen a theatre that size in.. well, not since that I could remember. The movie itself was very.. romantic comedyish. Definitely a chick flick.

Oh well, we headed off to Leoni's afterward where we had a large Italian style dinner. Quite a bit of pasta to go around, although the closest plate to me was a little too (spicy) hot for me! (Curses!) One of the hostesses there was pretty darned attractive. I think she caught me staring because she looked in my direction so I had to hide for cover.

Yeah, yeah, shut up.

Anyway.. we split up afterward to burn time while we waited for the beginning of the four hour pass at the Playdium at ten o'clock. Played a bit of magic and some super volleyball on DeeL's old NES..

We headed out to the Playdium out at Missisauga (near Square One) and proceeded to (after standing in line for a little while) check out the wares. Most of the games available there were either racing type games, or shooting type games. The place itself was moderately large, but it seemed.. well, there didn't seem to be that many games that were all too interesting. Driving games are fun, but they're better played with people you know. With the number of people who showed up to take advantage of the free night offer, finding more than one empty slot for a linked game was very difficult.

There were batting cages and bubble hockey available, but.. I wasn't really in the mood. They also had a Dance Dance Revolution machine there as well! But I couldn't play. *looks at foot* The game was situated with a whole bunch of "musical" type games. There was a drum set one, a guitar game, and another musical one which I can't recall too well. Being musically disinclined, I decided not to try them out.

I did notice the number of girls who were there. A lot more than I had expected. The Playdium is basically a glorified arcade, and I never really considered it a huge attraction for the opposite sex. But there were a lot of girls there. A number of them were probably dragged out by their boyfriends, or went in groups (with groups of guys) to check out the place, but it still seemed a little odd too me.

Anyway, I didn't play all too much. A couple of us watched the IMAX ride thing that they had in there. A whole eighteen people could fit into it. Man that was small. Nearly hurled what was left of dinner near the end there, but fortunately, the ride ended, and the world stopped spinning.

It was quarter after two by the time we got around to leaving the Playdium. On the way to DeeL's place, we came across an accident on the 401 near the 427. I was only half conscious when our driver (who's name escapes me at the moment) mentioned,

".. it was a rollover!"

I didn't see it myself, but I noticed the number of police cars and emergency vehicles in the area. I also noticed that there were very few cars on the highway. In fact there were no cars on the highway. I commented that it must've been fortunate for commuters that this accident happened so late at night, or the highway would've been packed. I just about ate those words when we saw more police cars ahead, which had blocked off the highway at a previous intersection (Carlingview Drive) and the traffic had (with no hyperbole) come to a complete standstill. At half-past two in the morning, there was a rather large traffic jam on the 401. I'm glad we weren't going in the other direction.

We arrived at DeeL's place without a hitch. Well.. we dropped of HKL at home and decided to stop off at one of those 24 hour donut shops to grab some caffeine (coffee for him and double chocolate donut for me) except we had to choose the donut store where there was an argument between a patron, and the employee who didn't seem (from our point of view) to understand each other's arguments. Well, they both spoke English, and we did walk into the middle of it, but my thoughts of grabbing a dozen donuts were dashed. At that point, I didn't really feel like getting anything, but we couldn't just leave.. I got one donut, and we scooted out.

Finally we got to DeeL's place where six computers were set up for multiplayer gaming.. and the rest you could probably figure out.
