[12:15 AM EST - I've got a bone to pick.]

My lower left gums have been swollen for some time. For most of December, I've had issues chewing my food because it hurt to put pressure on the back few teeth on my lower left jaw. The gums around that area were severely swollen as well, and I was worried that I had improperly cleaned my teeth or got some food stuck in my braces. Cleaning thoroughly did not seem to make a difference, so I lived with it.

A couple of days ago, the swelling started to come down, and I felt some hard lumps on my lower left jaw where the gums were most tender. They felt like scabs, but the tongue is a funny muscle. Things feel a bit bigger with it than when examining by eye.

Today, the scab disappeared and what was left was in impression and a very small and hard bump. I took a look in the mirror and saw a white dot where the bump was. Then it hit me: I knew what this was.

My parents force me to eat fish every week because they think I'm getting dumber or something. Anyway, these fish are always full of bones. One of my pet peeves is fishing out these bones, or forcing a bone infested hunk of fish meat down my throat, feeling it scratch all the way down to my stomach. Well, what this looks like is a fish bone that got impaled into my gums, much like a sliver.

However, this sliver is a little too far to reach with my hands, and I do not have any tweezers. My repeated attempts to remove this sliver have been fruitless, but any of the harmful bacteria that had been living on this bone have long since been neutralized now. The damage has already been done.

I just want this thing out of me.

[12:35 AM EST - It is out.]

After spending some time rubbing, pushing, and pulling at it, the bone finally came out. It was not as big as it had felt actually. But it certainly made a mess in there. Had I left it in, it probably would have scratched up my tongue as well. (I also had a sore tongue for the last couple of days.)

Now I have a little divot where the bone use to be. At least it does not scratch me anymore.

[9:31 AM EST - Still a little bump.]

Hmm, I still have a little bump next to that divot in my mouth. I am wondering if I missed a piece. It is under a bit of skin, so I may just leave it there since it is not as bothersome as the other piece was.

[Saturday, January 6, 2007: Playing sports again.]

It has been some time since I had done any sort of physical activity. Badminton is not very intensive in a cardiovascular sense, but it was better than nothing. Indeed, I felt like I played a lot better today than I normally do. Perhaps being well rested may have had something to do with it.

[Saturday, January 6, 2007: Doing the hokey Pokey.]

I met up with Pokey for drinks after badminton and got caught up. Apparently there have been things going on in the ultimate world that I had no clue about since I was living under my rock. But I guess I will find out more when I go to the party on Thursday.
