[Monday, June 5, 2006: Rainy hockey.]
Since I was booked for the weekend, I went to my parent's place to pick up the bike. This meant that I would be hard pressed to eat in time for hockey if I didn't want food in my belly when the puck was dropped. I was quite correct in that conclusion as I met up with TT with less than an hour before game time. I figured that I could go on an empty stomach and pig out after the game.
The game itself was okay, but I felt that I could have played better. I had to relearn how to properly do a power turn because I was speeding into the offensive zone and tried to curl around the net, but I didn't bend my knees enough and get closer to the ice. As such, my skates slipped out from under me and I slid uncontrollably into the boards. I hit the boards with my lower back and was pretty lucky that I had a lot of padding there. Without the pants, I probably would've been much more injured rather than mildly bruised.
The second time I did the turn, I did get down low enough and made it around the net. Now if I could only get the puck into the net..
