[3:22 PM EDT - Chain Links: Chinese horoscope.]

Windelynn posted a link to some of the Chinese horoscopes for those of you who are interested. I'm apparently a 木兔.

[5:59 PM EDT - Mental Exercise: Bullet proof.]

We were having a discussion about bullet proof glass and we eventually came down to asking a simple question: Does having more, thinner material slow down bullets better than one thick piece of material? For example, let's say there is a three centimeter plate of uniform metal, say steel and you shoot a bullet through it. Would that steel slow the bullet down more or less than three one centimeter thick steel plates spaced a centimeter apart?

If one makes the usual assumptions (uniform material, uniform temperature, no gravity, no air, etc.) which would be more protective?

[6:01 PM EDT - Mental Exercise: The fridge.]

GWG asked a simple physics question. If you had a regular fridge in a thermodynamically sealed room and you opened the door, would the temperature in the room change? If so, would it get hotter or colder?

You know what? I forgot how electricity works. I also forgot how Hawking Radiation worked.

[Thursday, June 1, 2006: Raccoon dinner.]

There was apparently some sort of hoopla taking place in the parking lot. Apparently a raccoon had taken up residence inside one of the cars and security wanted to get rid of it but they didn't know who the owner of the car was. The car was a black Acura and there was a rumor going around that it was my car. I was blissfully unaware of any of the events conspiring outside as the building request and subsequent e-mail message was not sent to our group.

They did manage to contact us though, and they told us the license plate of the car, which was different than mine, so I breathed a sigh of relief.

I went downtown to have dinner with Windelynn, JW, girl and Dangerman. We had Peruvian white fish all around (just about) and it was pretty tasty. I was supposed to see Squishy later but I had forgotten. *hangs head* (Besides, it was raining, and I wanted to ride.. so next time?)
