[9:37 AM EDT - Beaten to the punch.]

I arrived to work later than usual and the covered lot was full. That meant that I had to park outside in the sun, which will make it an annoying first several minutes in the car.

Oh, I also noticed that my freezer door was a little ajar. Actually, I noticed the condensation first, which lead to the door discovery. Now I've got a ton of frost sitting in the freezer. I'll see if I can clear it out later.

[Wednesday, May 31, 2006: Three fire trucks.]

Three fire trucks? Nobody ever told me that there would be three fire trucks!

I had gone down to my Mandarin class after work and was able to find a decent parking spot for once. Traffic wasn't so bad this time, and it wasn't raining. Things were looking good for a ride, which I would've done had I known that it wouldn't rain. But in any case, I walked on to campus and noticed three fire trucks pulling out onto the street. Now normally something like this is a cause for alarm, except that the lights weren't on, and the were leaving. I didn't pay much attention until I got closer to the building. I saw scores of students huddled around the entrances and guessed that there must have been a fire alarm. Since the fire trucks had already left, I figured that it was only a matter of time before people were let back into the building, so I wandered around to see if I could find anyone from my class.

After fifteen minutes of walking, I couldn't find sign of anyone from the course, nor were people being let back into the building. I started to wonder if my initial observation was correct, so I asked some girl what was going on, and she told me that there was some sort of fire alarm that happened not long before I got there.

So I hung around for a bit longer since there was nothing else to do. That's when I overheard a few profs talking amongst themselves. One of them had apparently talked to security and was told that the building was to be shut down for the night as the sprinklers had went off in the basement and it was flooded. This meant that classes tonight were to be canceled. Curses! *shakes fist*

I made one more pass around the building to find anyone I recognized before I went back to the car. I figured that being a language course, it really didn't matter if we held the class in a classroom or outside as we rarely used the blackboard, but I couldn't find any likely location where they could have relocated. This was unfortunate, and I would've saved money had I rode, but there wasn't much else I could do but go home and watch Battlestar Galactica.

Oh, I went through the first seven episodes. Three more left. (Dang that's fast.)
