[9:50 AM EDT - Old certificates.]

Argh! I'm having trouble updating my SSL certificate on my server. I think I'm updating the certificate, but nothing gets changed when I restart the server. What am I missing?

[11:13 AM EDT - You have to kill it first.]

Ah ha. I found out why the certificate wasn't being updated. You have to kill Apache first before it registers the new certificate. You can't just restart it. *sigh*

[11:38 AM EDT - Just a little loose.]

Ah ha! I found out what was causing the mouse movements. There's a little strip of plastic that runs underneath my spacebar which is apparently connected to the little mouse knob in the middle of the keyboard. Over time, it has gotten loose now anytime I touch it, it registers as a mouse movement. All I need to do is to tape it down or something, but I'll have to pop the space bar off first..

[11:54 AM EDT - Repairs complete!]

Success! When duct tape is unavailable, Scotch tape will do in a pinch.

I popped off the space bar and taped the offending piece of plastic down. Unfortunately, the spacebar feels a tad bit funny now, but I think I'll get used to it. Hopefully the tape will hold..

[11:56 AM EDT - Call for people.]

I've been asked if I knew anyone who'd be interested in working here at the client site I'm working at right now. It's more of an entry level position although developing experience would be nice.

[12:00 PM EDT - I have to slip it in first..]

Ah, I found out what was wrong with the space bar. I nearly broke the latch that was attached to it. It seems to be working fine now..

[2:17 PM EDT - Next year's charger.]

I remember having a problem with the journal script while I was down in China. Since the entries I was putting in were the next day compared to people in the EST zone (i.e. my server), pulling up the "current" entry will not retrieve the most recent entry as it was entered in the "next day". I don't think anyone really noticed, but it bothered me. I think I've fixed it now by forcing the routine to look a year ahead. I figure I won't have any phantom future entries, so that technique should work..

I also wanted to throw up a link on the difference between superchargers and turbochargers.

[4:00 PM EDT - Tjpigj ot os jard tp defome ots ,eamomg om a wprd..]

In a recent e-mail message, I had come across the word "tjpigj". I had no idea what it meant, so I looked it up and came across a site which had this word. Unfortunately, it didn't help me one iota. After scratching my head for some time, it finally dawned on me what had happened, and I was chuckling to myself that this quirky person probably wasn't intentionally trying to mislead me.

[9:56 PM EDT - Moldy books.]

Well, that took more time than I had anticipated. I wanted to donate those books to the library, go to the bank, get gas, and phone people up.

So I went to the library (which was open) and when I went to donate the books, the lady looked quite unenthused at the idea. She asked me what condition they were in (I said pretty good - since they've been sitting on the bookshelf for years) and she looked in the bag. She picked one out, flipped through the pages, and then told me that they smelled moldy. She couldn't add them to the collection. *sniffs books* Maybe I need my smelling checked?

You know, just to spite her, I think I'll try to sell them on eBay after all!

Afterward, I went to the bank to deal with my RRSPs. It took a long time for a representative to come to me despite the fact that the bank was empty, and there was nobody in front. In fact, when the lady finally came up to me, she was accosted by another client, and while they were chatting away in Mandarin, two other people who came in after were quickly picked up by other representatives.

Guh, and after that, it took forever to go through the painful process of saying "I want to transfer this much from here to there". Then, there was a communication breakdown, which was fortunately picked up later, but that meant that we had to spend more time to go over what I wanted to do, and to redo the transaction, throw in an emergency call from work, and I didn't get home until two hours later.

Let's just say that I decided that watching a movie wasn't in the cards today.

Oh well, I'll try to get some sleep tonight. I've also got some sort of web thing to check out.
