[7:35 PM EST - Food, Comedy, and a Wedding.]

Oh boy! This has been a busy 24 hours. I should talk about stuff, but to be honest, I'm a little tired, and I still have hockey tonight. *strech*

I went to Leoni's and Second City last night with a bunch of people. We had a dinner/show deal which was fairly cheap considering the amount of food we got and the amount of entertainment we had for the night (doesn't compare with a CTRL-A show, but what does? =). Because we had the dinner/show package, our waitress took away our menus and gave us some special menus that came with the deal. The sizes of the dishes were small (as in, small vs large) but still plenty. (Dang, those large dishes are large.) The selection was pretty good too. I chose the Fetuchine Alfredo, Chicken P.. something, and Tartufo for desert. As everybody came at different times, girl decided to do a spelling bee to pass the time. (Since we got into the spelling of some words, and how I couldn't spell.) Ironically enough, the two words I was given (mercenary and bourgeois) I was actually able to spell correctly! (Mercenary because I've used and seen it often enough, bourgeois because I was lucky.) Dinner was filling, fun, and fulfilling.

Oh yeah, perquisite is actually a word. I should use it more often.

The show afterward was pretty much the same caliber as the Second City show I went to a number of years ago. On average, it was okay, although there were some good points, including some of the improv. There was also a free talk show afterward.. Andy West I think the guy was called. It was okay. They pulled off a pan handler off the street and a standup comedian as their guests. I was rather surprised at how late the show went (seeing as I had to get up early to go to Waterloo this morning) but I wasn't complaining. It was a pretty good night.

I was a little worried about the weather on the way back. Flash freezing was predicted to occur around midnight, and it was way past one by the time we left. Fortunately, the roads were still warm enough to keep the water from freezing so we made it home in one piece.

Now, the wedding.. I'll talk about later.

Oh, Laz has an update up and I can't access my Sciborg account. Grr..

[Sunday, February 11, 2001: Another one bites the dust.]

So I went to a wedding today. It was scheduled for eleven, so I decided to leave around nine-thirty, hoping to make it more or less on time. The invitation stated that winter activities were going to take place afterward, so we were allowed to go to the church in our winter gear. I decided to bring along my suit just incase (I ended up wearing my T-shirt/sweater and jeans throughout the entire event). I got to the church without a hitch. I was a little worried that there would be a lot of ice on the highway after all of that water from the night before, but the high winds overnight dried off the roads and made driving very easy (except for the fact that I was driving into a 50 kph headwind).

I got to the church nearly half-an-hour early. Erk. There weren't a lot of people there, but I took a leak and talked to a couple of people standing around to make sure I was as the right place. Yup. Just as I figured everything out, weirDo showed up, and people started to stream in for the next ten minutes. It was quite impressive actually. The wedding started a little late, but things went well. It was a good, quick wedding. Not as emotional as Growly's, but heck, I never expected everyone - except for Laz, the stoic one - to be in tears during that service.

Afterward was the reception where we dropped off our presents and greeted the other guests. I knew about three, no four people at the wedding plus the groom. I've heard about a few more people who had showed up to the wedding, but I really didn't know all too many people there.

Lunch was simple, but filling. Mmm.. chocolate cake.. *drools* I was a little surprised that they didn't serve any of the wedding cake. Actually, I have no idea what happened to the wedding cake after they cut it.

I ended up talking with one of the uncles at the reception. He told me some stories about relatives and such but the thing that got me laughing was when I was mentioning not having a girlfriend. He started going on about "A guy like you? Oh, they'd be lining up for you!" etc. Funny stuff.

After food and a bit of mingling, a bunch of us got changed (the ones who were still in formalwear) and went outside to go tobogganing. The slopes were covered with rock hard snow, that was iced up from the previous day's rain. Our magic carpets were not padded enough to protect us from the bumpy ride (there were also large bumps that someone had put near the bottom) and we all had some mighty big spills. The "ramps" at the bottom were nigh invisible until you were already airborne, so it was a little shocking the first couple of times. It was very fun, and I learned very quickly that you never believe anything MH says. Never.

"Oh yeah, I'll give you a push and you'll be able to go between the two (adjacent)bumps."

Oh well, we didn't stay out as long as I had expected. The ice was really hard, and it wore us down pretty quickly. I ended up with scratches along both of my forearms from falling so much.

On the way back in, we found a field mouse that was stuck in the snow. Careful digging revealed that the house couldn't use it's back legs. Careful study showed that the mouse was also found in the middle of a footprint. Chances were that the poor critter was stepped on and got it's back broken. Someone ended up stuffing the creature into the shed on the off chance that it's back legs were frozen instead of broken. We'll never know I guess.

Finally, it was time to go. The entire even finished off more than an hour early, but I think everything went well, and it was enjoyable for everyone. I got home in time for dinner, but wasn't all too hungry. I also skipped out on hockey because I was a little more tired than anticipated. Oh well.
