[Tuesday, August 10, 1999: One more day, one last stand.]

I was thinking of taking the bus home later that day, and my parents thought that they were gonna drive me back that night. I had other plans tho, which I didn't want to tell anyone, especially if they worked out. Laz was in on it, so I went downtown to visit him. (I had to pay him back for the plane tickets anyway)

As my set of the car keys were on my desk in Waterloo, I had to take public transit. Ugh. One of the buses that went north along my street was branded with the number 21. The 21 Brimley. Odd.. the only bus that serviced my street was the 128 Brimley North.. or so I thought. When the bus came by my stop, it had the number 21 glowing on it's front banner. Hrmph. Nights of playing blackjack at the casino would've come back to haunt me, but I didn't play that game in Regina.

I made it to Laz's place without a hitch. I checked a couple of transit maps on the way down, and none of them had the bus number change. My sis mentioned that it was a good idea to combine the two bus lines so that people getting on the bus south of the Scarborough Town Centre wouldn't have to switch buses when they got to the station. Yeah, I guess there's that.

Hacked around on Laz's computer for a bit, and checked out the Ultima: Ascension trailer (cool, but not revolutionary). Found out, after a bit of apprehension, that the night was a bust. Crap. Ahh well, I wasn't expecting anything to happen anyway, so I called up my sis, who was going out for dinner (some vegetarian restaurant). So I dragged Laz out (with the promise to pay for his dinner) and wandered down to the Commensal.

When we nearly got there, I saw that there was some steam coming out of one of the sewer grates and a fireman was wandering around. Curious, we continued on, and as we approached the restaurant, we saw a couple of fire engines and a number of firemen milling around. We checked in to see that my sis was already at the restaurant and then went out to check on the fire. At the end of the street, one of the grates was billowing out with steam or smoke but there wasn't much of an urgency that could be felt, so I went up to one of the firemen to ask what was going on. He told me that they think a few steam pipes blew and they'd have to fix it. That's it huh? Oh well..

The dinner was very good, considering there wasn't a morsel of meat at all in the buffet. I still packed a fair bit of food in, but had to carry some back since they wanted to leave.. (but I like savoring my food..)

Getting home was no problem, and sleeping was no chore.

Actually, I have had comment spam before, but this is the fourth time ever. Mind you, the last two were from this year so I may want to consider altering the comment entry form to be a bit more discerning? (I think it became more of a problem when I put the comment form on the same page as the entries rather than having it as a separate pop up window.)

In any case: spam removed.

Why does this entry keep getting hit by spam?
