[12:00 PM EST - Running out of hot water.]

What a morning, got up to take my shower, and got in the bathtub. Water starts off tepid. So I turn the knob over to "hot". Water gets a bit warm, and then goes back to tepid. I twist the knob over to "Steaming hot". The water barely gets noticeably warmer before getting cold. Crank the knob all the way over to "Melt my skin off" and the water turns freezing cold. Yeesh, there goes my shower. I barely had enough time to wash my hair and face before I caught hypothermia and jumped out of the stall. Funny, this is the first time we've ran out of hot water. I'll remember next time to take the shower FIRST. (We've got 4 people living in the same house) I'm surprised that this was the first time it happened (I usually a the last to get out anyway). Maybe everyone decided to take a shower that morning. What luck.

Well, bumped into Nick on the way to school today, and it seems like I'm not the only one who was kinda surprised that those snow plow people (getting a bit more PC here) didn't notice that they were moving those concrete blocks.

Let's see now, had an argument with weirDo about how long the Northwest Territories have been around, I argued that it's been around since way before Canada was formed, while he said that it couldn't have been around before.. but the name "Northwest Territories" were given to the land because that's all that they were at the time. Territory in the north west part of North America. Well, the area was called the NWT ever since the 1600's, so I think that's a tad earlier than the formation of Canada.

We also had another argument. He didn't believe that there was another name for egg whites. The name for that stuff is albumin. Go and look it up.

Got a bit of skating in today, figured that I should go now seeing as I'll be in TO for the weekend. A little surprised to bump into Sue (the Chem Stores gal) down there. I didn't think anyone in Chem Stores went skating. On the way back to the office, I got a comment:

Wow, you have really large skates.

I was gonna follow up on that "large" thread.. but I figured that I probably shouldn't..

Speaking of TO, GBC (the computer guy) still hasn't confirmed whether he'll be driving me back to the Megacity. If he DOES drive me tomorrow, then that would be a surprise. I really should work on those contingency plans (like I should have in December) but I'm having a lazy moment.

Something did surprise me today. ShadowWhyspr and Puma dropped by. Well, that Puma gal, I'm not too surprised, but I didn't figure on getting trounced on by ShadowWhyspr. For starters, I didn't know that her break was this week, and she didn't mention anything about being in town. Anyhoo, after talking with them a bit, I got the faint impression that ShadowWhyspr's been visiting this page recently (probably when she was bored), since she kept mentioning the new computer I have (which I didn't mention to her before..). Well, enough about that, but it was still a good scare (trying to give me a heart attack or something? Maybe just wants my computer.. gee) and I'll get her back for that. Heh heh.

Finally got a response from Magnifica today (I guess she's feeling better). And how! Three replied messages, and two forwards. Speak of cleaning out your inbox. I should get around to filling her box again tomorrow. As in replying to her mail! (You sick people..)

On computer news, came across an article at SharkyExtreme about Asus's new 50x CD-ROM. The article goes on to mention that 100x CD-ROMs could be coming out by the end of the year. Good lord! If that thing goes out of control, you'll have CD shrapnel going at mach speeds! Kewl if you think about it, but I wouldn't want to be in that room. Another article on ArsTechnica talks about the Kenwood 52X TrueX CD-ROM and from the looks of it, it's a REAL nice drive to have cuz it's fast AND quiet (not like my turbine engine Toshiba 32X). Boy is it just me or is my CD-ROM getting slower and slower each day?

Found via ZDNet a library of Perl and Java scripts from which people can download and use at their own leisure. Check it out!

Should be enough for today. Did a bit of reprogramming, but will need a bit of fancy coding to implement this new constraint. Gah, the life of a coding chemist. Will go eat instead.
