[10:54 AM EST - No space under.]

Again, I arrived to work a little later than usual, and again the spots under the parking deck were completely full. Either I should get to work earlier or I should get used to cleaning the snow off my car after work!

[1:19 PM EST - Driving Conditions: Watch your back!]

Hmm, my wrist is feeling a little worse for wear today. I may have used it too much at broomball last night.

Otherwise, things are okay. The storm did not really hurt my commute, as many schools were closed, and a lot of people opted not to go to work today. Our office for example only had four people show up: Everyone in my room! I ended up taking my usual back route when the weather was bad, and since it was clear, I was able to make fairly decent time.

I did have a little bit of a scare though. On the highway, I was driving behind a large tractor trailer on the right hand lane when I saw the brake lights flare and the truck swerved into the shoulder.

As the truck moved out of my forward field of vision, I could see that the cars in our lane had stopped. I came to a stop, but the area was bathed in snow: white out conditions. Being the last car in the column, I was worried about other cars behind me as there was no place I could go. The median was partially blocked by the truck, and the difference in speed (and my lack of grip) precluded the use of the left lane as an escape route. I was pretty much stuck.

I watched my rear view mirror for a couple of tense minutes as cars would appear from the cloud of frozen water and swerve into the left lane. Then I saw a large tractor trailer. It was not slowing down. I started pumping by breaks and wondered how much it would cost to repair my rear bumper when it switched lanes and passed by at a very respectable velocity.

Being visible is good.
